This is filmed in Sutton Park, I watched the cars on the first part of the stage from the upstairs window of my parents' place, I was eight years old! From 1975 onwards I never missed an RAC, having been smitten!

Man, those Ford crossflow engines sound really great! And to think they didn't even have multi valves and overhead cams. They were the original Honda B-Series engines from the 70s.

Ummm, no. 2 litre BDA with 16 valves and twin OHC.

Great Clip. I love the cold atmosphere there, 70's feel.

Nice movie. I followed rallying in the UK all through the 70's, Club, National and international events. Welsh, RAC, Dukeries etc. Have a look at my film from the 1975 RAC.

If you're interested in some footage of this rally taken from the crowd (by my dad with his 8mm) then have a look in my channel.

Hannu Mikkola drove a Toyota Celica during the 1980 1000 lakes rally. He retired from this event when his Celica broke a drive shaft during the event.

I went to watch RAC when it was proper rally with overnight stages and went thro England Wales and Scotland ---terrific drivers . But I think that todays drivers /cars are much quicker---and so exciting in a different way Wish camcorders were around then in 1974

Sadly Sutton Park is now littered with speed bumps, I can't imagine the council digging them all up and allowing rallying to return :(

For the full 100% i would go to the ''classic'' rally events. Just the sounds of of air going in to the carburettors. I just love it. But i was born to late to see this

is it me or are these old cars better to watch then the modern cars now these just sound awesome to me

Weird watching this: as dgr said, pity they don't use Sutton anymore. Good enough in the 70s, good enough for GpB at its most brutal, but not good enough for todays emasculated pseudo-taxis lolol

What fantastic times these were. It's obvious why historic rallying is so popular now. Thanks.
