How high and wide do these get. A local grower 6b/7a zone told me 30’x20’ but when I look them up it is showing much larger. Thanks

In in norway they get big like REALY big easily 100 feet and they easily grow 4 feet a year and they self seed. In norway most forest's consist of norwegian spurce beacuse they out compete most other trees. in norway kids like to eat the new yellow shots, eat them before they get to hard, the shots have a bitter/Intresting taste

I used to have a Norway spruce tree in my backyard. It was already a huge tree when Daddy and all of his siblings were little kids. The tree was very beautiful. When I was a little girl, I believed that the tree was magic. On January 9th, 2024, it was very rainy and windy. I was in my room watching videos about what I can do to help late talkers. Just then, I heard a loud bang outside my house. I thought that it was just the wind, so I continued watching videos. Just then, I heard a knock on my door. I answered it. It was my little brother Isaiah. He told me that the giant evergreen tree in my backyard uprooted. I put on my shoes and went to see the tree. Since it was nighttime, we couldn't get a clear view of the tree. Mommy was sleeping at the time. I told everyone on Daddy's side of the family about it. The next day, we all took pictures of the giant tree. I sent the pictures to everyone on Daddy's side of the family. My uncle Andrew, who was visiting Daddy at the local nursing home, showed Daddy the pictures. Since Daddy had a stroke 11 years ago, he just said, "Wow, wow." Everyone on Daddy's side of the family talked about how the tree was already huge when they were little kids. The tree trunk landed on the neighbors' fence, which was a metal one. The treetop landed on the roofs of my garage and the neighbors' garage. Mommy and my little brother Zach were on the phone with the people who were gonna remove the tree. Mommy told her friends from her church and her siblings and father about the uprooting of the tree.

big tree so i think it's pricey on the website
@iTreescom
@iTreescom 6 ай бұрын
We base our pricing on the time it takes to grow the trees at the nursery, the maintenance to get them to the point where they can be planted in residential yards, delivery and labor is taken into consideration, as well as, the overall quality of the tree, and service. We believe our services are reasonably priced for large ball and burlap trees that are delivered and expertly planted. All with the assurance of the iTrees.com Full Replacement Warranty.

Probably about 18-20 years old, roughly. It was around 8-10 years old when we planted it and about 12-14 ft tall.

Holy shit they didn’t remove or even slice the burlap!! Those trees will be dead in 5 years
@iTreescom

We leave the wire basket and burlap on around the rootball, and cut the twine and burlap from off of the top of the rootball. The nurseries we source our trees from use low-profile baskets and the burlap will biodegrade. This is a controversial topic. However, we guarantee our plantings and stand by this practice.

Where did you get the idea that they grow to 60 feet? They grow to 190 feet. They are the tallest broadleaf tree native to America.
@iTreescom
@iTreescom 3 ай бұрын
You are correct, they can grow larger than 60 ft tall. According to the Morton Arboretum, these trees can grow upwards of 70-90 ft tall and have a mature spread of 35-50 ft. Check it out → mortonarb.org/plant-and-protect/trees-and-plants/tuliptree/

Why do some Norway spruces that are mature have a trunk that goes up and then branches start versus the ones you're standing next to look like a Christmas tree

Most likely, the larger more mature Norway Spruce have been pruned up to look that way.

Our family partner nursery is located here in the Chicagoland area. They now only grow the Sun Valley which is a hybrid of Autumn Flame and Red Sunset Red Maples. Sun Valley is hardy to zone 5. Over all, our best recommendation would be to contact a local tree farm near you and see what they would recommend in your area. When you select a tree that is locally-grown and well-acclimated to your area, that is a sure bet for success.

Curious what the spread of the roots are? I know the rule of thumb is equal to topside spread but wonder if it's true here. Are the roots shallow? I also wonder how close they can be planted to buried PVC pipes.

how large will black hills spruce trees get? And, how fast do they grow? How many years does it take to reach 20 feet tall?
@iTreescom
@iTreescom 3 жыл бұрын
Evergreens in general are slower growers and Black Hills Spruce has a moderate growth rate. For the first few years, the tree will focus its energy on its roots and homeowners won't see a lot of top growth during this time. Once the tree's roots are well-established it will begin to grow at a moderate growth rate. Tree growth changes year-to-year based on things like site conditions, weather, tree care, and other variables. Once the tree is established in the ground you most likely will see a growth of around a foot a year. This will depend highly on the above factors but this is a good estimate in general.

Everyone has their own method of planting trees. One question is why you did not water the tree when backfilling and planting? In my extensive experience in landscaping we have always watered the tree in when planting. Exceptions might be on a large commercial job where a water source may not be close. Watering the soil helps get rid of air pockets and helps let the soil settle so additional soil might not be have to be added later. When you are in a residential back yard water should be readily available so why not water it in when planting? If the soil settles a little you can add more and then put your layer of bark mulch on top. Also amending the soil - pros and cons of that?

Do you guys take off the basket and burlap? I find taking off at least the top of the burlap helps to find the root flare to avoid planting too deep. Thanks for planting trees!
@chrisharford1019
@chrisharford1019 3 жыл бұрын
We do practice the industry standard of removing the burlap around the top of the tree’s rootball once the tree is in the ground. We then bend all wire back, to prevent it from surfacing and element any twine around the trunk of each tree. It is important to alway remove any restricting material from the top of the rootball. We double check all the trees we plant have their root flare exposed and are planted at the right depth. Thank you so much for your kind words and inquiring.
