I really like “You Belong To Me” - do you have any other recordings by the Opus Orchestra? I suspect this track will have come from the Disc Imports library. I’d also be interested in anything by the Brno Radio Orchestra or Orchestron Symphony.

I don't have any others. There was a Rondor Music Ltd LP series from the early 1980s. These were not intended for retail sale but to be liscensed for use as background music in public spaces such as hotels, department stores and shopping malls, or for use as ‘on hold’ music in telephone call systems. Discographic info is hard to find but the first LP was of instrumental arrangements of songs by The Carpenters, which has been listed on Ebay and elsewhere.

The old radio orchestras of the sixties, seventies, eighties had the best background music. There were so many brilliant arrangers, composers around then. The best ones? Oh, don't get me started!

We moved to dilapidated cottage in 1957 Wales money was extremely tight, we had two 405 sets very old ( wooden cabinets ) when one broke down we would use the other until it was repaired. Yes I am still living at that cottage Happy days long gone

I don't ever remember the word COLOUR being used on the testcard on BBC1, the bottom line just said 'BBC 1'. This would have been mid 1970s, we were UHF 625 line monochrome at the time

They all remind me of days repairing televisions. Smells of soldering, hot dust on the tops of valves, ozone from EHT arcs, line time-base whistle, etc. My favourites were 'Holiday Highway' 'The Lark in the Clear Air' and 'Capability Brown' playing from sets on test.

This is what tv was invented for. There is a story going round that 'John Logie Baird ' was found by his assistant weeping into his hankerchief in an in-consolable fit of depression, When asked why he was crying, he said, " It's taken me years to get this invention off the ground ", His assistant then said , " This is fantastic John, what an achievement ! why are you crying ? ", Baird replied, " Yes I know, but look, There's fuck-all on ".

That was a name of convenience often used by compilers where the actual artist couldn’t be traced at the time. A really lovely compilation of tunes we were so familiar with once (those of us who were listening in!!) Dream Alley was a rare piece to be heard, as it was positioned right at the end of the Victorian Drawing Room tape, which seldom got that far!! A pity, as it's a superb track.

At that size the movie file was still over 1 Gb in size and took ages to upload as I had just moved snd hadn’t got WiFi installed before we went into Covid lockdown, so had to use my phone as a hotspot instead. Still, the music is the main thing with these compilations.

Thanks for this nostalgic production 🙌 👏, we got our first colour tv in 1969,a 25 inch Philips which gave an outstanding picture, but the valves were overdriven and I was having to set the convergence up every couple of weeks to this exact test card . It would be very useful if broadcast today to adjust the contrast to spot on and the brightness instead of using the built in facilities to do this.Its more exact .Best Regards,Ian 👍😊
