I never blew something up. And I worked with hundereds of them as a customer. Even when a customer accidentally connected it to 57V, nothing was damaged. How is this better than Siemens Logo?
@RevolutionPi
@RevolutionPi 2 жыл бұрын
It depends on your project wether the RevPi or a Siemens Logo is the better hardware. The RevPi is an IPC which can be used as a compact controller/soft-plc, the Logo is a classic plc. Generally, the RevPi is way more flexible since it`s an open system with an Linux-based OS and is not limited to the Siemens ecosystem.

Just discovered these and the look awesome. I would suggest bumping the RAM up from 1gig to 8 if technically possible for those of us running Docker on a Pi for containerized applications. It would be a bit painful to go backwards on memory headroom. I know I can purchase a rPi4s Compute module with 8Gigs. As an aside adapting the vending machine to dispense the modules and placing it in factories. I would buy them that way. :)

Hi, thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, since the Compute Module 4S has more or less the same hardware layout as the Compute Module 3, the RAM of the S and SE series is still limited to 1 GB. Good news though: We also developed a Revolution Pi based on the Compute Module 4, which has up to 8 GB RAM. We plan to bring this device on the market in the first half of 2023. Great video. You have added features to make the Raspberry Pi become a PLC. What differences remain? i.e. Why not just use a PLC? Cost perhaps?
@RevolutionPi
@RevolutionPi 3 жыл бұрын
One of the biggest advantages of the Revolution Pi over a classic PLC is, that it's way more flexible. You can either use Soft-PLC software like CODESYS or write your own little control program in C, Python etc.. You can use the RevPi as an IIoT gateway to collect data and send them to the cloud or you just use the RevPi as a normal IPC. Some of our customers buying large quantities even let us install their own customized software image on it.
