I think "a" became so popular, because it was literally the first thing Gura ever said after the announcement of the very anticipated HoloEN; people found it funny, and it caught on. The Holo New Year Cup is one of the greatest Hololive collab events. So far, there have been five tournaments. It usually takes place at the beginning of every year, and it's really intense, because the Holomembers practice a lot in the weeks leading up to it. I'd say the 2024 tournament was the greatest and most intense so far, and currently Tokoyami Towa is the champion after dethroning the two-times champion Hoshimachi Suisei. There are so many awesome stories just from the Holo New Year Cup alone! Suisei herself became a Mario Kart legend after defeating the then invincible champion Minato Aqua in the 2021 tournament, and I think that was what inspired many others to start taking the tournaments more seriously.

This is on Bae's channel because she financed this cover and its video's production. She won the grand prize in a raffle the Hololive girls participated in last year which was a bunch of money to be out toward any Hololive project of their choosing. Rather than invest in something highlighting just her, she chose to do a song featuring all EN at the time.

Elizabeth is British, Cecilia is German and Raora is Italian. Gigi is the only from this group who is not European, being another US based talent. They're a very fun group whose talents clearly show the high bar Hololive now has for new members.

In HoloEN, there's mainly 5 (now 6) music focused members: IRyS, Bae, Calli, Nerissa, Kiara, and Elizabeth. Though, note that some are trying to branch out like Ina and Mumei. And some that don't focus on it are pretty decent singers themselves, especially the new gen. I really recommend checking out their originals since they've really worked hard for it. And if you wanna explore further outside of the branch, watch out for holoID, I honestly consider most of them as the most entertaining stage performers in Holo (though this is debatable for me now with the new gen in EN). Moona, Kobo, and Reine are the main singers of the branch though the stand out in terms of raw vocal talent is Risu (who can't focus on music as much due to finances). From what I remember, all the members of this branch has at least 1/2 originals with the exception of Anya who's still a great singer

Shiori is an amazing variety streamer, while her contents are pretty niche it looks like she has one of the most loyal (and obsessive) fanbases. Unfortunately for her, the upload schedule for this song got messed causing the song to be released prematurely and many people missing out on its release, dragging it into obscurity. Many people didn't know she had made a cover until a few days/weeks later, which is a shame.

Nice seeing you checking out Nerissa again. For another info dump, your assumption of the song relating to her vtuber lore is correct. Nerissa is a raven demon of sound (hence the feather motifs as well), with her voice driving others to madness, the gods feared her power and that lead to them nerfing her power (the source is from her horns) and locking her up in the cell alongside the rest of Advent (the girls you saw in the rebellion song). Specifically however, for this song, this is set after their escape from prison. And it relates to how in traditional fantasy stories, demons gain their power through how mortals use their names, the song is basically her convincing the viewer to know her more so she can be even powerful. Anyhow, hope you check out more from her especially her future songs and existing covers, since I think each one of her song choices have showcased different sides to her capabilities as a singer (my fav cover from her is Lilium which was sadly taken down, but it still exist in the internet if you try to look for it, it displays her choir background which is probably her most unique trait out of all the holosingers, the closest is probably Tokino Sora and her opera background)

To give some further background on Nerissa, she's basically (probably) the most professionally trained of HoloEN. And the only ones that I could think of that match her background before their own debuts are the music oriented JP members (Sora, Azki, Towa, Watame, Kanata, and maybe Suisei tho from my knowledge she seems self-taught). She's opened that from a young age she's been joining choir groups alongside her sisters and her family just has a deep love for the musical arts. Its normal for her to talk about hanging out with them to jamming to songs that they like; and watch musical shows, concerts or opera. Also with forbidden knowledge, she's also released covers and original music in the past as well and has collaborated with others on other musical related productions on the internet. Given these and more, I would say its a mix of both, she definitely has natural talent, but what makes her stands out right now is her experience and training.
