Are you studying the OG's and elders who made the samples, that's what made The Pioneers and Greats like Ye and Preemo, greats they knew the music and in some cases loved the music they sampled. Perhaps dig in the crates and become a supporter of this music and perhaps put they type of flavor on non hip hop music you love. Also take in the old mix shows.
