its not a matter of performance that I use gamescope for it gives me greater control of scaling and which display should be the primary, one of the downsides of how I capture via a second computer over HDMI, a lot of games tend to chose the HDMI and this can cause me some issues, in terms of performance there should be no difference between using gamescope or not in Wayland DE, mostly it just lets me fine tune things to exactly how i want them to be outputed to capture card and primary display as I have to mirror a Display Port to an HDMI port its complicated without gamescope.

@nebadon2025 last I tried gamescope was to try to get HDR working in-game, but the game I tried (CP2077) didn't detect HDR as being available even though I had HDR enabled.

Turning off FSR fixed it for me.

I have not had this issue, but I am running an AMD GPU so not sure if that makes a difference.

it ran flawlessly on my 3090 with proton-experimental, no errors or anything at all.

@nebadon2025 That's very outdated. The game has received tons of updates since then.

it should just work with proton, it has a platinum rating on ProtonDB > www.protondb.com/app/675010 I don't remember having to do anything special, I usually put a comment at the top of the video description if I have to do anything crazy to make a game run.

The graphics are considerably better, in terms of gameplay its pretty much exactly the same, even performance is good, maybe even a bit better than the original, seems more optimized the polish on this remastered version is amazing! It is 100% worth the 10$ upgrade charge! They really outdid themselves with this one I think.

no this is running at the native 800p the steam deck runs at, the specs show 1080p because of the capture card cant do 800p so it scales it up there to 1080p

to be honest I don't recall doing anything special for this game, generally when i run into trouble I will make notes at the top of the video description box, not seeing anything there leads me to believe the game just worked for me, I test so many games I don't remember the specifics but I do recall not having any trouble with this one.

If you have shader cache disabled it wont play videos. The way valve gets around not being able to include the codecs directly is by using pre-compiled shaders to play the video back. Other than that I am honestly not sure, but this is likely the reason I am guessing.

@@nebadon2025 I can't get the in-game videos to run either, and I don't see a shader cache option anywhere in the game or the Heroic Launcher (which uses Proton Experimental). I also placed files for the Windows Media Feature Pack into the correct Proton prefix system32 folder, but it did nothing. (The files were the "mf" files from git "b-fission/vn_winestuff".) Everything about the game runs perfectly but videos like the intro one, and I refuse to play it without those.

That would definitely be nice, sadly I just tested this again yesterday and it seems performance has gotten worse since I did this test.

@@nebadon2025 Well, it's likely a regression or making the driver more correct as some elements didn't render. They can focus on performance later, I would focus on solving bugs for now

@@nebadon2025 The Devs do a lot of optimizations to the game itself, constant bug fixes and updates so it will almost exclusively perform very well. Glad you got to try it out. Do play some quests, they are very good

The drivers are broken for me at the moment, but as soon as things are working again I will shoot for testing Warframe out too!

There is still a ton of optimizations left to do, if you look closely you will also notice some objects are missing, the biggest one being the Ferris wheel is just flat out missing from the boardwalk in the NVK test, other stuff to I am sure, lots of work left to do still!

unstable frame time

If you compare the Green bar of both you can See there are Many Spikes for the nvk Driver. I am assuming those represent frametime Deltas. Basically on nvk there are 60 FPS on average but pushed inconsistantly which result to stuttering. For example If you capture 2 Seconds, you can have 90 frames in the First Second, but only 30 frames in the Second Second. Or 120 frames in the First Second, but 0 on the Second Second. Both result in 60fps on average but both have huuuge frametimes. The human eyes notice this as stuttering.

the performance right now is around 1/3 of what it should be, maybe even less at times, as far as I know there is no VRR or HDR yet, its still to early for that kind of stuff, HDR doesnt even work with normal drivers 100% yet
