Doesn't matter. I have a Jack Russell who loves the run, and pull (not when walking). He will pull me on a bike, roller blades, and a skate board. The dog has to have a desire to run, and the owner has to have a desire to train. With out the proper commands, and training you or the dog could be seriously hurt. There are books out there to help you along as well. Hope this helps. ^_^

as the owner of a single siberian husky (and a collie) i can only concurr. those two dosg are as different as day and night. she wants to run, first thing she does if let off the leash... she speeds off in a straight line to the horizon... and then she turns around and runs the same straight line back to us (me and my collie who were left behind in the dust cloud of her departure) - she does that to vent off steam..... they want to pull. i have seen huskies in front of a slet growing impatient

I am a dog owner and I think I know a little bit about dogs. Some films and some life experiences about mushing are just horrible and you hope for the dogs that they will cope. This film however looked really good: decent mushers, happy dogs, decent treatment. It is just a fact: townspeople cannot stand it that animals are there for a purpose. These are working dogs and they like it. They are not your usual coach slouch and they are kept differently.

@Staceybob UPDATE! I now have a dog scooter and all the set up and we now run as a single dog sled team. I've fell in love with it, and so has my dog :D We got her to start running by getting her to chase someone and then started teaching her the commands from there :D

@savehedda I think what you are perceiving as brutal isn't quite correct. The dogsare treated the way you see in the video for a reason. When you have many excited dogs, especially when there are several Alphas, (Humans), and lead dogs, the excitement can lead to a dogfight rather quickly. Its controlled, not brutal, otherwise the dogs can shoot out of the box and go off looking for "play" and end up disappearing. Visit a kennel. It will change your perspective. It did for me, I married into it.

@cehendri okay, I didn't post this vid, but I can answer, basically you can run with however many you want even one, but my expeirience is that the dogs seem to prefer a lager team, after all they are pack animals. If you have limited space and a budget, I'd recomend a 4 dog team, just cause you have only 4 dogs doesn't mean you can't go fast or far with proper training. Personaly though a good team, in my oppion is about 6 dogs. Still controlable, fairly cheap to feed, and capable of going far.
