Crap! That "disembodied voice" stuff gets me every time. If I've ever been to hwy 38 I don't remember. I was everywhere it seemed when I drove truck. Probably driving asleep alot of the time. I saw a good number of things on desolate, narrow highways, when I would drive long into the night. Most I could dismiss as hallucinations from being too tired, such as the gigantic white kitty-cat I drove under. The most horrific thing I saw was in eastern Wyoming. What looked like a ten foot tall demonic werewolf-thing. Thats the best I can describe it. It was standing on the shoulder of the road with its arms outstretched toward my truck. Scared the heck out of me. I was almost sure it had to be a hallucination, but just incase, I went eight more miles to and abandoned gas station, hoping I was far enough from it, to get some sleep. To this day I'm not sure whether or not it was real. I love your stories. Kinda weird for someone as spooky as I am to like hearing about such things. Looking forward to the next one.

Route 93 runs north-south through eastern Nevada and is the most Effed up road you ever saw. I was driving south on 93 in '86 in an old Honda CVCC with a guy that was a Ute indian. We were just a few miles south Of Steptoe when the snow began. All I had was two tire tracks to follow and I kept in 2nd gear and cruised at 20 mph. Brian got excited and said there was a man in black and a woman in black and gray. I asked him if he wanted to stop and he said 'hell no!' He said they were people that died on that road years ago. About twenty minutes later he said there were two girls (20 YO) in t-shirts and shorts with their backs to us. I was going to stop for sure but he insisted they were ghosts. I saw no tracks in the snow so I drove on. Later he saw a cowboy and he saw his face this time. He looked like he was lost in this blizzard but we didn't stop. His grandmother had told him about seeing ghosts when death is close by.

Thank you for another thrilling and exciting story in Kentucky history. I have not traveled on Rt. 38, but have heard that this highway was used during the Prohibition Period as aa means of transporting bootleg whiskey. I don't know how true this is, but you know how stories travel. Golly! Kentucky Melody. There is a story in WV that reminds me of this one due to similarities. Mamie Thurman, a socialite, who lived in Logan County, WV, was found brutally murdered on the side of a coal mining road and, of course, it is haunted.. Her story is really scary. Another story more similar to the this Lady in White in KY, is Zona Hester Shue, known as the "Greenbrier Ghost," who was murdered by her husband. Somewhere I have heard of another socialite in KY that was murdered in the 40s or 50s, but, for the life of me, I cannot remember her name. A book has been written about this woman and, supposedly on the road, where she was found murdered, people traveling it at night, might run into a ghost. I truly appreciate all of this awesome stories Kentucky Melody. I am a published author and just wanted to mention that your stories are so well written Kentucky Melody. Please keep up your wonderful work. I always look forward to your next spooky story.

❤❤❤ When I worked at a factory in Bath County (many years ago), while driving to work in the dark, I found myself being followed by an big, heavy looking, black car (like those of the early 1950's) with no headlight on. It appeared behind me just before I drove through Salt Lick, KY, on U.S. 60. As I drove over the little bridge near the Green Motel and restaurant (where there were security lights) the car disappeared. It happened to me three days in a row. When I told my father about this, he told me that the same thing had happened to him in Elliott County on a different road (years before he retired). Could it have been the same car?
