I don’t understand why so many good players in the past few years come to join the Yankees organization and turn themselves upside down? Something is going on inside the organization…

The Yankees are always looking for the big bats to hit it out of the park to make their day. How about getting on base by pitting the ball in play, a hit, a double, etc? Post season games are not always won with home runs and pitchers would know by then how to stop these big bats. So why not changing the approach?

Bonus pool money is a hard cap and there's still a drafting order, so... there's a few basic things that Don doesn't understand that money can't necessarily buy. Sure, you can you hire the the highest paid scouts, analytics, etc.

With all the crap they've taken from the media (especially in Boston) they actually have a very interesting plan. Certainly took some time, but they already have a lot of talented young players with several blue chip positional players in the minors that are about to come up. The blue chip ones are all good hitters for average, power and take walks. They are all athletic and play good defense at key positions. As long as the GM makes good moves and the owner is willing to spend again, the plan will work out.

As a person who simply hates the Yankees I love the massive slide there on. That being said, Brian Cashman is horrible. He’s made four or five Chris Davis type signings that would have bankrupted two dozen small market teams. The guy is horrible at the draft and has made terrible trades. Bringing in a zero experience guy like Aaron Boone is just the cherry on the top. On that note people losing their job is what baseball is all about. In 1992 Bill Clinton made the best political/baseball analogy when George Bush said he was going to fire his advisors and cabinet and Bill Clinton turned around and said “look at this, the manager wants to fire the team.” The Yankees need drastic changes (something odd to say for a team above .500) but these next two series are vital Tampa in Tampa for three the Yankees need to sweep in their second home, then Baltimore for three in Baltimore. Meanwhile up in Beantown the Red Sox have KC and Oakland over the next six games. Both horrible road teams. If the Yankees keep this trend going they could very well go into the break in third place struggling for a WC spot. Gotta admit fellas I’m getting a semi just at the prospect.

Remember what urban Meyer said when he retired… These players are different now, they are unteachable and all about the money. He felt so strongly he could no longer coach in college, how much worse do you think it is with these overpaid babies at the professional level?

Years ago I concluded that Brian Cashman will have this job for the rest of his life. He will have this job very likely until he dies or is so physically ill that he can’t do it anymore. So I’m going to estimate he will have it for another 25 years at the very list assuming he lives a long life. Yankee fans need to accept this and stop asking to fire Cashman. Simultaneously they have to accept that they will not see a WS championship or appearance in that period of time. So you kind of have to watch baseball the same way 90% of baseball fans do - for fun. Stop worrying about the Yankees winning the WS. It will not happen. If the entire thing is truly about winning the WS, then I highly suggest rooting for another team.

I would think that the reason Cashman has kept his job this long, is because the Yankees aren't losing money, bad contracts notwithstanding. I don’t believe the Yankees have ever made a business decision based upon what emotionally overwrought and low information fans are screaming about on “X” or any other media platform. The Yankees are an enormously profitable and successful business enterprise regardless of whether they win or even reach the World Series. Season Tickets. Merchandise. Cable subscriptions. Streaming service subscriptions. YES network subscriptions. $15 Beer and $11 Hotdogs or whatever they cost now. Exorbitant parking fees. And of course, their most important product for sale, which is their "glorious" history. Like any successful business organization, the Yankees included, their purpose is to make as much money as possible. To be profitable. That's their reason for being, their raison d'etre. All this other boilerplate about the "winning a championship every year or the season is a failure" mandate is just so much fluff for fans that think MLB is some saccharinated Bill Gallo cartoon. Naive Yankees fans need to detox from the Pinstripe-flavored Kool-Aid and grow up. Mickey, Whitey and Yogi aren't coming back. These are not your father’s, grandfather’s, great-grandfather’s and possibly your great-great-grandfather’s Yankees. But at least they're clean-shaven, and God knows that is the most important thing. So, there's that.

The thing I would say about Charlie's call, with the Cox-Jones thing and that hockey comparison, well in the old days, it wasn't PC for a manager to rip a player publicly, it was acceptable and normal, but if you do that in today's era whether it's baseball, mainly basketball or any pro sport, coach/manager becomes the bad guy and being harsh and too critical, if a player takes it the wrong way, player gets sympathy and coach/manager become the bad guy bully and the scapegoat. They can't flex their muscle in today's era, like the old days, those days are gone, you're not gone see a Billy Martin being upset with Reggie Jackson for not hustling on field or being taking out for it and confrontation in the dugout, you're not gone see that intensity no more, players are sensitive today, you saw Stroman get on Torres for a mistake, Rodon telling his own manager, no way you should take me out, kept saying no way, no way, players have power, the old school managers of the old days that held guys accountable, don't exist no more. Players are sensitive and take criticism to heart. I've been hearing that's why Girardi got canned, cause him being hard on guys cost him his job, that's why Boone was brought in, an easy going guy that's everyone's biggest supporter and will back them up, no matter what. Speaking of Bobby Cox, saw him over the weekend on the Fox Network Saturday game between Phillies-Braves, showed him in the luxury box, in a wheel chair, Fox was showing clips of Bobby getting into it with the umpires, very intense with them. So that's what I will say to Charlie, you're not gone see things like that anymore, managers and coaches are aware of hurting their feelings and don't want to embarrass them publicly, not gone see that no more, lot has changed over the years, those days are gone.

People need to stop analyzing Boone like he has any real power. Even if he went into the press conference and roasted DJ Lemahieu, nothing would change for the better. When half your lineup can't hit and your bullpen is completely getting shelled, then it goes beyond the head coach. All the assistant coaches own a part of this, and they were all hired by Brian Cashman, as were their predecessors and their predecessors' predecessors. Brian Cashman is the problem here. There's no other GM in baseball that goes 15 years without winning a Pennant and kept his job. Cashman should be no exception

Too many fundamental mistakes, players not giving it all they have. This is the fault of the manager because he is not holding the players accountable and removing them from games. Boone is way too soft on his guys. Maybe Girardi was a little hard nosed, but that 2017 team way over achieved with what they had. If it wasn't for the cheating Trashtros, there's no telling what could have happened that year. I truly don't see this team getting over the hump with Boone at the helm, they just cannot adjust to get out of these bad losing streaks.

Simply put, Hitters and Pitchers have failed to win games, they get a lead and then their pitchers can't hold the opposing team ! They make the word Slump really obvious ! Just an opinion, leave Aaron Boone alone ! He is one of the Best Yankee managers ever to grace Yankee Stadium ! The Players, Hitters and Pitchers MUST Step it up !! Their repeating themselves 22"/23' they were fabulous the first half of the season , then failed miserably the 2nd half...Good Luck Yankees, you'll need it !

This team is a waste of time and energy anymore. It used to be a great organization and team, then Boone and young Steinbrenner showed up and just want to make the money. There is no more pressure to win a championship, just keep selling merch. This team is a small shadow of the 90s team with no leadership. Boone would have been fired 6 years ago with the senior Steinbrenner at the helm.

As an outsider I have one question: what player would you say is the leader in the dugout and locker room? From what I understand, it's not Judge (not in his personality), not Stanton, not Soto (he's a rental), not Verdugo (he's all about Verdugo), not Volpe (he's too young), and not the remainder of the lineup (they are largely stiffs). It's easy cruising along when you are winning, it's tough when things turn South and you have no leader among the players.
