How about the two faces of the United States (US). The US claims to be the "champion of democracy", but has consistently refused to comply with 42 United Nations' resolutions demanding that it immediately return Puerto Rico's sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. In the meantime, 6 million Puerto Ricans have abadoned our national terrirory (gentrification), and half of us who live in Puerto Rico live in poverty. Moreover, today, the US is unconditionally supporting the genocide against the indigenous people people of Palestine against international law.

I am surprised, are polygraphs actually / still used. That's ridiculous. I thought it's for sci fi and bad movies that assume film watchers are idiots. Before switching to Neuroscience, it was obvious to me that Polygraphs are something just for 50s movies and sci-fi. It does not need a PhD in Neuroscience to now this. Just a rational mind. (For context: I happen to later get a PhD in Neuroscience (Neural Coding) + a postdoc in BCI; Brain-Computer Interfaces ( very relevant coincidentally). But it did not need that for me to just know this common-sense thing. ). Suggestion: What people need to know first, is the fact that polygraphs are actually taken seriously. I think this itself, is not enough-widely known. I just found this out and in my analysis, I think that may be a bottleneck in the cause you are following. I m not politically minded. Just got surprised. Signals from polygraph would just measure things like anxiety, fight-of-flight response initiated by Amygdala, etc (see a review about such responses and the complex factors in relation to Iowa/Wisconsin card tests ) and EDA/GSR (Galvanic Skin Response). Those are also well studies in QEEG and biofeedback literature. In fact, I think the point of neuro-feedback is that control over such anxiety responses may be learned. Also I guess "psychopaths" are best at . So, basically what (falsely) positive results will measure how non-psychopath a person is ! (in other words, natural-born psychopaths will do well with polygraphs). This means such test can be set up or questions can be framed in a way to predictably get any apriori-ly desired response: the result desired by the interrogator.

Absolutely bull, a failed poly after 21 years of maintaining a clearance with a squeaky clean record, I lost my job because of a medical condition that affected my test. Then when in the room I told the NCIS guy that him, his test and his entire approach was a crock and that basically if anyone is harming the nation, it’s people like him. Either way, I’m out of a job that I spent my entire life cultivating.
@i-..--..--..-i69853 ай бұрын
They frequently use the poly and CVSA to screen out job applicants who don’t contribute to their DEI and political ideology hiring policies & quotas. The examiner asks an outrageous question like, “tell me how many times you f@#$ed the family dog, raped your 6 year old sister, or sold drugs to school kids” after nearly putting you to sleep for the last 45 minutes asking mundane boring questions. Your brain/body does a WTF?!? reaction to the question registering a strong response on the magic box. Then the examiner follows up on that question with increasing belligerence. You get more annoyed or angry. Bingo! Your answers indicate deception. No job for you.

Isn’t it possible that CIA and NSA are examining for personality disorders, not deception? If the subject is asked if he has ever considered sex with animals, and this does not provoke an emotional response, doesn’t that suggest a personality disorder?
@gengarvenom1180Ай бұрын
No. The machine doesn't distinguish between reactions. Either you react or you don't. You could be nervous, but you could also be mad, afraid, shocked, disgusted, and so on. The machine is good for three things only. Measuring your breath, your blood pressure, and your sweat.

1st of all, Sinclair is a convicted liar and con artist. He is not Obama's biographer, and more importantly, he failed a polygraph exam years ago when he made this claim. Then do you really think if Obama was gay he would get with this butt ugly man? With his swag, he could have a much better-looking gay lover than that man! Just saying!🙄😒

Thanks for this. As a moderate myself, I don’t know why the right is running with the story. A lot of people are saying he passed the polygraph test when it’s clear he failed. I like and respect Tucker Carlson but I think he is doing more harm than good here for the conservative base to believe the story of the evidence, we currently have.

As we mention in the notes for this video, the outcome of this polygraph examination is not so clear. While the polygraph operator opines that Sinclair is lying, a computerized scoring of the charts had Sinclair passing. You'll find documentation of this here: antipolygraph.org/s/sinclair-report

The readings -15 and - 7 (attachment 2) which Gelb claims are the correct ones to use show that Sinclair isn't being truthful. The review (Barland) attached to this 2008 test states (with small caveats - this is what science reports show) it was all done correctly. I failed a polygraph test. Supposedly I was stealing. I fought it - so the company send me to the worst store and after I got there -the store turn around and the Manager and Assistance Manager both beg me to stay after I chose to quit, thanking me for cleaning the store of thieves. That was in the 90’s.
