www.fox29.com/news/man-catches-fire-after-being-shot-with-stun-gun-outside-jims-steaks Following up on one of your stories... I don’t know the man in this video posted by Fox 29 News and I’m sure that some people would assume that because this man is being tasered by security that he did something wrong. Not only would I not assume that but after the experience my fiancé and I had with Ken Silver and his staff at Jim’s Steaks I think that the only thing this man did wrong was have the misfortune of going to Jim's Steaks South St. Philadelphia as did we. On October 11, 2019 my fiancé and I went to Jim’s Steaks. There was a long line, so I went upstairs to grab a table while my fiancé ordered our food. From the moment I sat down, one of the employees, Eric, started harassing me, calling me sweetheart this and sweetheart that. He hovered over me, got in my face, and tried to intimidate me simply because I was sitting at a table. I told Eric that if he had a problem with me sitting at the table, he should get a manager. Instead of getting a manager Eric sat down at the table and told me that he wasn’t going to leave me. This is the kind of comment a stalker would make and I felt extremely uncomfortable. Eric told me that it was his job to make sure that only people who ordered food were sitting at a table. When I arrived upstairs Eric had a rag in his hand and was wiping down the soda machine. Clearly he was not the head of security he tried to portray himself as. I explained to Eric that my fiancé was ordering food, but he kept blathering on that I must have food to sit at a table despite the fact that there were open tables available and no one was holding food looking for a seat. I explained to Eric that I had spinal fusion surgery recently and needed to sit down but he couldn’t have cared less. He continued to sit across from me in an attempt to intimidate and harass me. Eric was showing no signs of relenting, so I took out my cell phone to record his inappropriate behavior. Knowing that he was being recorded, Eric toned down his behavior. Somewhat. Through gritted teeth and mockingly holding up a peace sign, Eric again told me about their policy. I reiterated to Eric that if he had a problem with me sitting at the table, he should get a manager. Again, Eric refused to get a manager and continued to invade my personal space by sitting across from me. Had this issue been about the restaurant’s policy, Eric would have had no problem getting his manager. No, this was an attempt to harass and bully me because Eric thought I was a woman sitting by myself. Despite my continued requests for Eric to leave me alone and to get his manager, he continued to invade my personal space and make me feel incredibly uncomfortable. Fearing for my safety, I went downstairs to find the manager. I located the manager and motioned for my fiancé to join me. I told my fiancé that I had been harassed by one of the employees and I began to explain the situation to the manager. It only took a few minutes of speaking with the manager to see why Eric felt like he could harass a customer. The manager showed no concern for the way Eric had acted, refused to watch the video I had taken, and stated that is was their policy that you must have food to sit at a table. I explained to the manager that there were open tables available when I sat down, so I wasn’t denying anyone a seat. The manager couldn’t have cared less and despite the repeated requests that my fiancé and I made, he refused to address the situation or watch the video I had taken. With the manager not being of any help whatsoever, we asked to speak with the owner. Moments later Ken Silver, the owner of Jim’s Steaks, stormed down the stairs. He didn’t listen to a word me or my fiancé had to say, and he too refused to watch the video. We told the owner that if he didn’t want to watch the video at that time, he could watch it when we posted it online. At that point, the owner became even more irate. He called my fiancé and I racists, which is patently absurd. When we asked the owner why he chose to accuse us of being racist he said that it was because we, being white, accused a young black man of harassing me. The truth of the matter is that being called racists had nothing to do with racism, and everything to do with the fact that we threatened to post the video that Ken Silver refused to watch online. Last I checked that is not the definition of a racist. We told Silver that we did not have a problem with Eric because of the color of his skin. We had a problem with the inappropriate way that Eric behaved toward me. At that point the owner told my fiancé and I to get out of his restaurant even though we were already on our way out the door. Despite the fact that we were leaving, the owner chased after us, yelling and screaming like a lunatic, causing us to turn around only to find him shaking his finger in our faces screaming at us further until we walked out of the door What happened to my fiancé and I at Jim’s Steaks is wrong on so many levels. It’s ludicrous that a restaurant doesn’t allow customers to sit at a table while food is being ordered. Not to mention we are not from the area nor had we ever heard of such a policy, nor did we see posted signs so it’s ridiculous to fault us for that. Regardless of any policy, that didn’t excuse Eric’s behavior. I should not have been confronted by Eric in the way that I was and Eric harassing me is inexcusable. He clearly saw a vulnerable female and tried to take advantage of me. I felt sexually harassed as well with Eric’s unwanted violation of my personal space, not to mention the way he kept calling me sweetheart and refused to leave me alone even though it was clear I was uncomfortable with him violating my personal space. As atrocious as Eric’s behavior was, Ken Silver’s was even worse. Instead of listening to our concerns, he chose to attack us and make false accusations. He knew that what his employee did was wrong, so he tried to deflect and put the blame on us. Our only solace is that we are not the only ones Silver has treated that way. Take a look at the way Silver talks to the news reporter in the second video in this post. Despite the fact that the footage clearly shows three rats running through Jim’s Steaks, Silver tells the reporter in his condescending tone that what the reporter saw was a mouse. The fact that there were rats at Jim’s Steaks isn’t a surprise. While my fiancé and I were talking to the manager about Eric’s horrific behavior we noticed that the kitchen was filthy and that there were cockroaches scurrying across the floor. Silver’s success in business has given him a sense of entitlement and he feels like he can twist the truth and treat people however he wants, even though the business was inherited, and he didn’t work hard for any success the business has had. Silver had his security officers taser someone outside of the restaurant as the man was walking away! Unfortunately, the Philadelphia Police have aided and abetted Silver by failing to locate the man in this video who was tasered. - at Jim's Steaks South Street.

AAARRGH I wish Maryland let firefighters use flashing lights on our personal vehicles when responding to the station like that! It drives me absolutely bonkers when I’m trying to respond to a call and get stuck behind some slowpoke who insists on driving below the speed limit or whatever, and I get there at the same time as the engine is already rolling out the door!
@alexandermakrianis3 жыл бұрын
yeah, I know the feeling. My first couple years on my department I couldn't have lights and siren and I lived a good 3 miles from my station. When we had a call that was more serious like a structure fire it seemed that anything that could get in my way and slow me down usually did.
