De Grada is een rivier/ haven sleepboot en is van mijn neef Huib v/d Velde geweest helaas heb ik hem nooit met z'n schip ontmoet maar zij/hij was een legendarische sleepbboot en kapitein.

Why isn't the air filter on the engine instead of the pipe attached to the intake manifold, is it to allow cooler air into the engine from outside?

Sehr schön ! Habe ich richtig gehört, dass die Drehzahl bei der Fahrt noch etwas zugenommen hat ? Oder anders gefragt, erreicht der Motor die 380/min auch schon beim Stand des Schiffes ?

De Zee sleepboot Holland vind ik een prachtig schip. Toen ik op de lagere zeevaartschool in de Helder zat van mei 1958 tot juni 1960 lag de Holland regelmatig in de haven van den Helder. Wij gingen dan altijd even kijken en sfeerproeven. Wij gaan al tientallen jaren met vakantie naar Terschelling en als de Holland dan in de haven ligt even aan boord en regelmatig aan een lunchvaart deelgenomen. Elke keer weer genieten. How do you drain the oil??

pump it out, aqua vac it out OR take off the oil feeder and drain from there or there is a sump bolt if you can access the bottom

@@samtollitt9796 on the marine version there's a hand pump on the engine. In the video it's on the left next to the diesel filter. There's a valve as well so you can also pump out the gearbox oil.

Emielio, dat durf ik zo snel niet te zeggen. Als local en lid van de watersportvereniging is het wel een stuk goedkoper. Als passant is het een vrij regulier tarief per dag/nacht.

Hi, May be you can help... My mechanic is asking me for the internal diameter size of the cylinder and crankshaft stump size for the motor m102 of my w463 230GE 1991. Do you know where I can search for that info? My motor had some pressure problems so they are working in repair it, but my problem is that they don’t know the exact cylinder diameter size for that motor or he is telling me that the info he had found doesn’t coincide with the measures now in my motor…. I will appreciate a lot if you can help me, thanks. If you can write [email protected]

AnunciosAndresGdl this data should be available in the workshop manual or Haynes manual. Alternatively, it can also be found in Mercedes’s STAR system. You need ‘official’ dealer access to this system, but there are various websites where you can find PDF files from this system. (Especially for the older benzes). A word of caution, I’m not sure that the 2.3 M102 engine for the W201/W124 is the same as the engine for the W463 G-Class. Make sure you check compatibility according engine numbers before installing parts.

@@joripiano M102.981 The M102.981 was a 2.3 L version with a 95.5 mm (3.76 in) bore and the same 80.25 mm (3.16 in) stroke. Cubic capacity: 2,299 cc (2.3 L). Power output: 92 kW (125 PS; 123 bhp) from wikipedia. Applications: 1979-1989 W460 230GE Geländewagen

My father worked as a fisherman in a similar ship 30 years ago, i used to play as a mechanic in the engine room, now I'm Diesel mechanic due to this kind of ship, good memories. Congratulations from chile.

Thanks for your reply. You're absolutely right, it was fantastic. So amazing to see and hear these guys making music with true passion. And mr. Knopfler himself is just absolutely brilliant. Unfortunately I didn't film his little speech. When I'm at a concert i don't like to fiddle around with my phone too much. Anyway, the little anekdote about his young self hitchhiking back home for Christmas (matchstick man) would be nice to hear again... John Boon-Bean stork, industrie and kromhout?! Hahaha! As far as i know stork merged with werkspoor diesel and lateron with wärtsila. This is a genuine Stork engine.

Het type :Ricardo ,betekende dat er een :voorverbrandings kamer naast de kop bevond,die maakte het "gorgelend"geluid bij de start,toen de blowers van Brown Bovery op de markt verscheen is men gestopt met de voorverbrandingskamers,jaren op verscheidene gastankers duwboten vd Chemgas door Europa mee gevaren..

En toch is deze diesel, ongeacht de ricardo voorkamers, ook voorzien van drukvulling middels een stootturbine! Geen idee of het een Brown Boveri blower is. Geef mij maar ee'n indirect ingespoten diesel in plaats van zo'n moderne toerenmaker. Net als mijn ouwe Mercedes 190D: gloeien, starten, en mooi rustig lopen.

En t wordt zo stil in Mei als deze orgels door elektrische boelsjit vervangen worden, prachtig als we onder een brede brug op de Rijn door gingen met de MWM, kan geen Tiësto of Snollebolleke tegenop..

Voorheen lag de Grada altijd in Harlingen, maar volgensmij heeft het schip een nieuwe eigenaar, wellicht in Huizen. En inderdaad, pracht van een sleepboot!

Worked on a good few of that type of engine , they were widely used in public services buses here in Ireland and they were always blowing head gaskets

must be drivers error , these engines are unburstable , exhaust flange gaskets do blow out

The only difference the engines in the buses were turbo charged and I think that was the cause of it because the engines were fitted with a safety cut out again overheating and low oil pressure so driver error was not the problem.
