What I love about badfinger is the raw honest sound, loved them when I was a wee lad and still love them today. Rock on

I'm still doing it again. In the very way how I messed with my father George D. Shelton. Thus, I forced every unborn child to get mental health problems. Shia LaBeouf didn't say this to me. "You didn't just ruin the baby girls, you even ruined the boy babies too. I just guess that you don't judge people by what their gender is."

I am positive I watched Tapeheads but can't recall it. However the way he describes the story reminds me a TON of things from The Long Sandy Hair of Neftoon Samora book he wrote, just the style and flavour of the Tapeheads story is reminding me of that style.

My god that's awful! Imagine that, 4 actors pretending to be a band, after minimal rehearsal sound really bad, who'd thunk it?
@antifrodis2 ай бұрын
Make that two actors and two musicians. Not being able to hear themselves over the screaming crowd, as well as a lack of monitors didn't help either. They were never gonna sound as good as the studio recordings, being a 3 piece band with a tambourine player. Poorly recorded/mixed audio is another issue. Not as cut and dry as your comment suggests.

This particular performance of "It's Not Too Late" is probably my favorite performance of Davy's, either live or studio recorded, with or without The Monkees.

We just saw Joey 2 nights ago in New Buffalo, he was amazing. At 77 he shows his age but his voice remains strong and he's keeping Badfinger alive. Baby Blue is possibly my favorite song of all time, and I had a lump in my throat hearing him sing it. If I closed my eyes it was like Pete was singing it because also the backup singers nailed the sound. The rest of the Happy Together show was also great but Baby Blue completed my evening. I hope to be able to see Joey Molland perform live again!

So what? I'm 69 going on 70. I saw him kill the Artful Dodger role in Oliver on Broadway in 1963 and I'm happy being one of the millions of little girls who were going to marry him! He was a born entertainer and always made his audience happy. It's only too unfortunate that no one noticed his voice weaken, no longer holding his long notes, that were the clue to his heart problem. But thank goodness for all of the recordings that will keep him alive in our hearts.❤

There's a picture from the left hand of the stage from this tour that includes Peter playing keys. Next to his keyboard is what appears to be a keyboard bass. I was wondering on what track that may have been used. Does anyone know if this is the track? I hear Nez on guitar, Dolenz on drums, Tork on keys and Jones on vocals. The bass sounds like a keyboard bass but i am not sure. Anyone have any insight?

" Typical Monkee Romp " ?? More like " Typical Monkee Slop ". This one seems like it musta been near the end of the run. When they thought trading in Don Kirshner's tremendous hit making ability for hanging out with Nicholson and dropping LSD was really a creative and smart thing to do. Really really stinks.
@antifrodis7 ай бұрын
The song you're hearing was recorded under Don Kirshner's supervision. It's terrible. Worse yet, it doesn't fit this cool sequence. The song that originally appeared when this episode aired was "Zor & Zam" which is a great song in the Monkees catalog (without Kirshner's involvement) and fits the sequence perfectly.

Definitely was recorded in this key. Not only does Micky’s voice sound more natural, but Tommy and Bobby’s backing vocals sound more like themselves. They slowed it down after the fact to make it more bluesy and presented that mix to Kirshner. It being in the key of G definitely makes the claims of it being a Clarksville clone over the slower version we got on the MotM Deluxe Edition.
