FYI. You installed the bracket "backwards". The bracket attaches to the FRONT, not the BACK as you did it. You were confused because the bracket does in fact lightly click into where it is supposed to go when you mount it in the front. The hard part is getting your hand around to the front to get the bolt in and to tighten it. People have advised putting a large rag below the bolt area so if it falls or the socket falls it will fall onto the large rag instead of getting lost inside the front bumper which could happen. Best wishes.

@@AvoidStealership Some people have even used zip ties to hold it in place as the bolt is tricky to install when the bracket is in front. You will get a stronger radio signal when installed correctly as the way you have it installed the radio signal is "aimed" toward the cabin versus the front and the radio signal has to bound around a bit to get to the opener receiver. I try to install things per manual because you never know what the unattended consequence is say if in an accident. This doesn't look like a critical thing like when people don't install a Tesla Wall Connector properly (the directions are straight forward for the TWC so I SMH why people do it wrong). Best wishes.

Update! Turns out it's too much trouble to remove the original model from a 2018 M3 which included it from the factory - to get at it one needs to remove the entire front bumper "fascia". Instead I purchased a new OEM module for less than $200. Following this guide it was a success. The latest software (2024.20.9) allows the module integration - all is good :)
