*PLEASE HELP: What sort of dyes are used to stain/color the outer surface of the recorders?*
@thomasprescott84172 күн бұрын
I use Wella #445 hair dye for all renaissance recorders, as well as the lighter colored baroque recorders. For the former I use 10 Volume peroxide as a developer, and 40 Volume peroxide for the boxwood instruments. Boxwood parts are soaked for five days in boiled linseed oil then wiped and turned on a lathe while the dye is painted on. Renaissance sugar maple recorders are soaked for one day. The dye is painted on the spinning recorder for five minutes before wiping off.

Een beetje jammer dat het aanblazen associaties met de houten dwarsfluit oproept.Verders erg mooi gespeeld.

Wegen dieser besonderen Art die Blockflöte zu spielen habe ich selbst Blockflöte studiert. Herrlich. Selbstvergessen, dienstbar dem schönen Klang gegenüber. Perfektion in Intonation und Phrasierung. Durchlässig auf den eigenen Körper bezogen. Locker und doch voller Intensität. Angemessene Bewegungen, die zu seiner Persönlichkeit passen. Wunderbar, sowas wieder einmal zu hören. Bitte noch viel mehr davon. Und.. Dankeschön. Wirklich von Herzen: Danke!!!

Are these the ones used in the recording of Hotteterre's Recorder Sontatas by Quadro Hotteterre ? A truly wonderful recording.

I believe the piece that begins at 18:02 is actually Toccata XII, not VI. I've double checked the sheet music for the piece, and I have listened to other performances on youtube with the correct title (Toccata XII in A minor FbWV 112).

Wow - that is fantastic. I once made the adventure to Bob Marvin's house, arriving at night in a big snow storm. I spent a fair amount of time with him over the years but being in his place was really amazing. It was also wonderful to hear Frans...he had told me once about his place in Italy and how he wanted to spend more and more time there. It was wonderful to have a glimpse of that.

Yes they are a beautiful instrument, but have a limited range compared to a flute.
@nooby3089Ай бұрын
The range is almost 3 octaves. Compared to the flute, it's nothing. Flutes can go up to 4 octaves.
