No, it’s using the same exact electronics. The big difference is the taper and feel will be different and not the same as stock, with some dead space in the sweep. IMO Kinda works better stock.

@@backslas_h it’s worth a try to see if you like it. You just don’t have as much control as the stock configuration and it kinda thins out the tone.

81 is hotter so it should be in the bridge but it seems that pickups like the alnico h series or 60a should also be in the bridge

that clean is the one.. how do you make that quad sound like that

nickcaptain13 pretty sure it’s the jc120H, quad with the ambient effects like I was mentioning. Just a little bit more sprinkled on top of the jc120. If it were a cake, the breading would be a jc120h mixed with a clean tube preamp (studio, quad, etc). Icing would be the jc120h FIXED chorus, sprinkles would be some slight effects from the gmajor. On its own, the gmajor was never satisfying to achieve that chorus tone.

nickcaptain13 I don’t think so. I usually just split the signal. So Guitar to jc120h to cab. Guitar to quad, to gmajor, to recto power section, to cab

so the only chorus is the jchead and no other effects go the head from the g major

nickcaptain13 yeah, the chorus is from the jc120H but it’s also combined with the studio preamp

and what the hell is the chorus from that preamp? i have mesa triaxis and g major 2, also tried boss gt 100 choruses and also a boss super chorus but that chorus is nowhere to be found.. even when i combined the jc120 combo i have.. is that the g major 1 instead of 2 that i am searching all those years? that bright chorus?? on 5th and 15th second??

nickcaptain13 no the studio is just there to thicken things up a bit. James used a jc120h with a triaxis set clean, so this is following that same basic approach. The chorus isn’t that great in the gmajor 1, better in the 2 but it won’t work for that time on their own. Your best bet is anything based off the old ce1 or ce2 chorus. That’s about as close as you get to an actual jc120 chorus

nickcaptain13 I played around with adding some tones with the gmajor to the studio/quad, whatever additional amp I used for cleans, but mainly to add a little more depth, not act as the main chorus. With the gmajor, play with the flange or detune options too, they can help

my jc chorus aint sounding like that.. does the head have different chorus???? i mean.. if in this video the only chorus is on the jc and the preamp is without chorus.. damn i have to check my jc120 for issues!!
