In 1993, I walked out on a corporate career after 20 years, and embarked on three years of trying to work out the rest of my life. I was walking along a river in southern England listening to a "mixtape" of Texas singer-songwriters. I walked past guys fishing and a small Lido (open air swimming area) just as these lyrics hit my ears. Today (2023) looking through my old song books I remembered this song after not performing it for, maybe twenty years... takes mye right back to 1993 .... thirty years!

@gdnjr832 I didn't say he was as good as Darius Rucker. It just has a similar sound to it. Listen to wagon wheel

They both sound like "country"; I'll give you that. But let's not mention this to Darius next time we see him, mkay?

Maybe I missed it but I'm surprised he didn't mention an incident that occurred at the Fillmore East in NYC in May of 69. A fire broke out next door and security tried to empty the venue with mixed results. Pete hauled off on a cop and was eventually arrested. All the nifty details are in "Manhattan's East Village- Three Decades of Madness".

Thanks for posting! You had a great "seat" at Solid Sound! I know Jeff De Rome, the DJ to whom Glenn dedicated this song. In fact, he and I were at Solid Sound together and we both got a real kick out of Glenn's dedication. De Rome played "Raised Eyebrows" before its release as a single on his Saturday night college radio show at Montclair State College (now University) in NJ. The show, called The Permanent Wave, ran from roughly 1975-78. De Rome was an early champion of the New York Band Scene, and was often the first to air many bands that are today legendary - and others not so well remembered. For instance, he played Talking Heads, Television, Blondie, The Ramones, and others in their earliest days, often in demo and unreleased recordings, as was the case with The Feelies. De Rome was also singer and keyboardist in two bands of that era, The Adults and Mr. Baxter, in which Feelies percussionist Dave Weckerman was drummer. De Rome also played keyboards on Weckerman's rare 1980 first record, the indie 45 "Shore Leave/Out of Baby's Reach" on Yellow Fear Records. This is some inside Jersey music history, but your post gave me the chance to share it! Thanks again!
