You can't get the item from the bug boy unless you have a bottle. Though I admit, it's been so long I have forgotten if he tells you what he has or not if you talk to him without a bottle.

@@LiminalityCarb in the randomizer, no his text is till the same you won't know what he has till he hands it over. Mm never realized you needed a bottle first. and not sure it's true in the randomizer as some rules are changed. For instance the book will tell you what item is in the master sword pedestal so if you get the book you can make the check without needing the three amulets. I do see people playing the randomizer and forget to check either bug boy, back of tavern, or in the dark world, the C-house. Three notoriously unchecked chests.

@@xenxander Back of tavern and C-house I can see ESPECIALLY for new players who've not played the base game much, (and/or haven't done the any% NMG run as C-house is where 1/2 of your flipper money is). But yeah, the bottle requirement is why people forget bug catching kid because often you have to get him on a later trip.

The Ruins mech hollow variant was probably the first boss to really be a challenge. I spent a good two hours trying to get the long shot badge. Of course as soon as I beat I was so excited I missed picking up the ruins fragment… sigh back to the drawing board, I guess.

@SuperPaperPlumm glad to have helped. He also becomes easier if you have the double jump mask (probably even more so now with it's small window of invulnerability ability)

There’s a double jump mask? Must have missed that one. I got the fragment in a much shorter time thankfully although I’ll definitely wait until I get that mask before I consider speed medalling the stage. Speed medals are so rough I swear.

@SuperPaperPlumm you get access to it via one of the side quests. You can check the ruins right next to bell's house (in that forest to the right of it) to see which ones you've already unlocked.

To answer some of your questions: (Spoilers) In new game plus, when you go to the SDF graveyard instead of the fleetcom wreckage, ARGUS activates a contingent of the standard SDF space fighters (code name ‘Alarms’). These are the same platform the Arrow prototype is based on. This is the remnants of the ‘Mako’ squadron (their badge is available in the badge editor) The badlands do not just occupy local earth space - it extends far beyond that border due to the sheer amount of destruction caused by the three day war. Because of the arrow’s singularity drive it’s the only craft that can pass through the debris field. There is absolutely timey-wimey shenanigans going on due to the Arrow’s hawking reactor / singularity drive. There are also some probability shenanigans at play. We do play with lots of sci fi and anime tropes just for fun and writing convenience ;) Also you unlocked retro mode! Definitely fun for replays. Apologies for the display corruption during the final ending, not sure why but might be a video card driver issue. We did have more ending scenes planned but we ran out of money lol. Maybe we can add them in later 🥲🤞🏻

Same thing happened for me. Though the lack of contrast between foreground and background for the icons made it difficult for everyone in the group to do the same thing. (Really needed to be something other than light blue and white)
