Do you think this could be built without attaching to the walls?
@C_L_STEVENSON14 күн бұрын
I thought about that. I’m sure it could be built free standing with some type of anchor inside to keep the until from tipping over. Would probably need some trim installed around where the wall and unit meet to hide any gaps.

Where does the heat comes out from?
@C_L_STEVENSONАй бұрын
It’s an electric heater. There are vents on the front that blow out the heat when it’s turned on.

Were the 2x4s treated or untreated? They look untreated but my husband builds luxury chicken coops we have a ton of treated 2x4s outside in our stock pile that he’s already cut and I’m itching for a project 😂

Great video! Going to be starting this project soon. How big was the TV? I noticed you opted for the 50 inch fireplace so I assume the TV must be 65 or 75 inch? I have a 65 inch TV but im looking at maybe just having a 42 inch fireplace since the space is small (basement). What are your thoughts?

We have a 65 so it’s slightly larger than the overall size of the fireplace. I have seen both styles and they look great.

Thanks for watching. The tools I used are as follows : blue painters tape, 3’ level, impact driver , drill , saw, oscillating saw, and painting supplies. For the depth of the fireplace I wanted it 6” from the wall in total. Hope this helps. Good luck with your build

@Stratoliner5 - I'm not criticizing at all. It's a great install, and I fully support those that DIY. I think this turned out amazing! I hope these folks create many amazing memories with it. That said, I have built one as well, but went with a 60" Napoleon unit. I simply offer up my 2 cents that's probably worth nothing.

Out of curiosity, how do you access the outlets? Do you have to pull the entire fireplace pit?
@C_L_STEVENSON7 ай бұрын
One of the outlets is exclusively for the fireplace. The other outlet has a fused extension cord running through the wall and mounted to the back of the television. If I need to get to the outlets I will need to remove the fireplace, which isn’t difficult.
