Love all that you’re doing, Hannah. I attended the first time home buyers seminar back in 2022 and was truly informative! I think it helps to promote real estate agents as imperative to the home buying process in Ghana and really highlight what they do. In the states, you have the option to use an agent or not but the process is much more straight forward and regulated. REAL real estate agents have an edge in the market in Ghana to make home buying easier. One thing that put me off from working with an agent in Ghana was signing the dotted line that said even if I found the property I’d have to pay them. At the time this didn’t make sense but in retrospect and after listening to this interview, I wish they would’ve specifically detailed the work they’d do in the case that I found a property and talk about the value they’d provide by being there. Great interview!!!

Comment for the lady. In Ghana mushrooms grow naturally. Has she tasted the different kinds of mushrooms in Ghana yet?

Yes I love the wild mushrooms here. They definitely grow naturally in the bush. Buying them though is more expensive and had to get because they are more plenty when in season. To keep up with our mushrooms demand and to cut cost we decided to grow oyster mushrooms. I love how versatile they are. I've learned how to make vegan chicken wings with them among other things.

The family is complaining about the healthcare system in Ghana; does she know that the #1 reason most Americans go into bankruptcy in America is the high healthcare costs. In America, healthcare costs is the number 1 reason why Americans file for bankruptcy and loose their homes. Even with ObamaCare Americans are still going into bankruptcy and loosing their homes and loosing their livelihoods because of the high healthcare cost in America. The American healthcare system is a business. It is there to squeeze out as much money as possible out of each patient. In America, yes there will treat you if you go into the Emergency Room; but if you have a life threatening illness or a life threatening condition that requires a major surgery or a major medical treatment, most hospital will not treat you if you don’t have the medical insurance to cover a treatment or surgery that is going to cost the hospital and the health care system tens of thousands of dollars. I used to work as a social worker in an American hospital, let me tell them a little secret, as soon as a patient is admitted to a hospital bed, one of the number one focus on the hospital agenda is how can we get this patient out of this hospital bed as soon as possible. As soon as a patient get a bed in a hospital we are getting the discharge orders ready as soon as this patient gets a bed. The longer a patient stays in the hospital the more money the hospital is losing. So the healthcare workers are doing their best to get the patient out of the hospital so a new patient will occupy. Sometimes doctors lie about the progress of a patient so that the hospital bed will be available for a new patient. Because the hospital administrators are going to be asking the doctors and nurses why has this patient been in the hospital this long when he or she should have been discharged. Most hospitals in America want their patients to be out of hospital by day 3 if not the hospital is loosing money. Many patients that get discharged out of hospitals return back within 24-48 hours. I have heard many stories in America of patients being dumped on the sidewalks by hospital staff. There are reports of hospital staffs dumping patients on their sidewalks with patients still having dirty catheters in them, still having IVs on them, being disoriented from high dose narcotic medications and having just hospital gowns on lying down on the cold sidewalk street of a hospital. And don’t let me get started with the nursing home or old people homes in America. The abuse and neglect some of these elderly patients be experiencing will make you sick to your stomach and disgusted that a healthcare worker will treat an elderly person with no regard. Ghana is not perfect, try to make the best of it. Little by little Ghana will get there.

Thanks for your feedback, so yeah, we know how the US medical system is also a scam. In previous videos of ours, we mentioned how our mom was denied treatment there and denied Medicaid because her income was 50 dollars too high. The fact of the matter here is that Ghana is not equipped to handle complex treatment. Did you know the nearest P.E.T scan is in Nigeria. Currently, in Ghana, many lab technicians are on strike. So our message to anyone coming to live here is to have your health in order and / or the resources and connections to get the best treatment possible.

Hi, thanks for joining us in the comments .The family was just responding to the question I had asked them about what, if any, sacrifices they feel they have made in exchange for the freedom they feel here. I don't think that's fair to say that they are complaining. We came back to Ghana from the UK, where health care is paid for from our taxes, and nobody is asked for any money at the point of service.so you can imagine it was a serious consideration for us when we moved here. Is simply discussing the things we find challenging complaining?.

I am sorry that the family has to go through a lot of trauma, especially their son and the mother sickness. Health concerns are not an issue for an American citizen in ghana. I think being an American citizen, the best thing to do is to consult an American embassy in ghana. They have good doctors for their citizens in ghana. They are there to help their citizens, thats part of the job. Please don't feel like you are in Ghana by yourself. As long as you're an American citizen, you can get any help from the US embassy in ghana. The embassy is there to take care their citizens unless you don't know and it's free.
@thebigsankofa
@thebigsankofa 22 күн бұрын
That's something most of us don't consider. Most African Americans are here because we have a distrust of the US government so to reach out to their embassy is a no no. But perhaps you are right. We didn't reach out to them because of our previous experiences with the US government. In fact my sister and brother In law worked for US embassies here and in Jamaica, and they too never felt confident to reach out for help with certain matters. I wonder if theirs any validity to our distrust...
