Stephen Chow's A Chinese Odyssey is the best monkey king. Everyone else and all the movies that comes after are all rubbish. I haven't seen this version of A Chinese Odyssey but this version of the song LOVE OF A LIFE TIME 一生所愛 Is pretty nice and I have it on my playlist.

this version cleared up some plot from the original for me, and had a pretty good story, but even with all those new modern cgi and hd, the original 2 still the best monkey king love story of all

Anyone who watched the original 2, wouldn't really like this 3rd one. Fresher actors and better picture (HD, post-pro and all), but lacked the "soul" of the original 2. Ironically, just watching this one without watching the first two, would be kinda confusing on the plot.

This one is completely unnecessary to the plot-line. There is no need at all for this alternate timeline. A sequel is needed only when the characters' fate haven't been decided yet, but the characters already had their closure, each going on their own path. I feel like this Part three was made as just a fan's service. smh
