Is the scoring tool enough to grate garlic? I am worried it will not glaze well.

@@PotteryByYvonne perhaps I may have a tip for you. After dipping a piece in glaze, how do you remove the glaze from the underside of your pieces before firing? Do you paint the bottom with wax before dipping, or wipe it off with a sponge? Here’s a method I got from another KZbinr just in case you don’t already know it. I wish I could remember who it was so I could give them credit. The trick is to get a tray ( a kitty litter box is perfect), and put a piece of carpet in the bottom. Add water to thoroughly saturate the carpet. Then simply drag the glazed piece across the carpet to remove the glaze. It’s such a time saver! Thin carpet removes only the underside and thicker carpet removes more from the sides. So you can customize it to suit your needs. Sorry if you already know that tip!

@@mrq6270 I use a piece of wet indoor out door carpet to wipe the bottom.

Terrific. Note: viewers/aspiring potters: please do yourselves a big favor and always wear some form of breathing apparatus (N95 mask minimum) when spraying like this. Like clay dust-glaze overspray, over time, can cause major breathing illnesses.

Why use spray glaze rather than pour a glaze in and tip out? Thanks

It gives me a nicer coverage and more interesting glaze results.

You can find the hardware for this project at ezpots.com. My measurements are for clay with 12.5% shrinkage.
