I ordered 5 Imagepac bags and make stamp in first try. If you want to get darker black on tracing paper, put a few drops or spray nitro thinner in a carton box and cover tracing paper. Leave for a few minutes.

Thanks! I'm having a hard time finding any info from Brother for adjusting! I assumed auto meant that it figured out how deep by first touching the mat and then touching the thickness of the material and then proceeding..right? But, as you said, my blade has cut very deep into my mats. I appreciate the help!

While I can see why your method would work. It's slow and messy. Tape a piece of paper to the non-print side of the acetate. I put three small pieces of tape on the leading edge and it printed perfectly the very first try. It was Very much faster and no glue and mess.
@createinspain10 күн бұрын
You are missing the point. It isn't that the acetate would not go through the printer, rather that the ink would not stay on the acetate. My method works. Neither is it particularly slow, you can prep several sheets at a time if needed, PVA glue is fast drying anyway.

This is GENIUS!! Quick question, does the Brother Scan n Cut cut through the plastic sign?
@createinspain12 күн бұрын
It's pretty tough, very similar to the ones you buy for Brother machines. While possible to cut through it, you are not likely to.

Brilliant! Something that actually worked for once! I've been wanting to transfer an outline onto silver sheet ready for engraving and have watched countless other peoples' videos on the subject and nothing worked. I thought that I would have to buy another printer and get special papers etc. etc. or even go on an £500 course where this subject was covered. I used a clear hobby paper glue and spread it with a roller as shown on a sheet of ordinary acetate bought in a packet from the stationers. Used a hairdryer to get it dry before putting it in my printer. Thankyou so much Sandra, it will make such a difference to my engraving being able to put complicated designs onto the metal sheets so easily and quickly.

I want to cut out wood mainly but would also like to do some card and paper, but really dont want to buy 2 machines. So I am hoping I can get away with using it for paper/card without leaving burn marks etc. Is this possible? Cheers.

Can you make your distress ink recipe into sprays and instead of watercolors use acrylic. Thanks 3:39
@createinspain3 ай бұрын
You can make sprays out of anything - IF the particulate size is small enough. If it isn't, the nozzle gets blocked. If you alter the recipe the effects won't be the same either.

Let’s see if I understand. Create a file with an outside cut line and an inside draw line. Put the stencil material on the mat and cut it. Don’t take it off the mat, just pull out the inside shapes. Put card stock over the stencil and tape it down, then draw the inside lines. Correct? What if you want to use the stencil again on another day, I assume you open the fcm file, put the stencil on the mat, scan the background. Then only draw the lines. Will the holes show up on the background scan so you can line up the fcm file to the stencil? Thanks.
@createinspain3 ай бұрын
I no longer use a Brother cutter but that sounds about right. If you have it, you can create your file with reg marks which will ensure your design can be re used and will still line up.

What settings did you use for cutting the paper, please?
@createinspain3 ай бұрын
I suggest you do a material test for your particular paper. Set a speed of 100 (not much point in going faster for small items) and do power tests from 30 to 100. That should get you a result you are happy with if using printer paper.

Hi! Where is the video that shows how to do the setup?
@createinspain3 ай бұрын
Set up the machine, do you mean? You should find instructions for setting it up from Siser. It's pretty easy, unpack it, put a blade in the holder (so you can barely see it), connect to wifi if using and off you go. There are some instruction videos actually in the Leonardo software. Or do you mean setting up with SCAL?

Thanks for showing how to do this in Procreate! Can these PNG files be imported into Brother Canvas Workspace? I want to try this to make layered cards. Again thank you for sharing your talent with us.
@createinspain3 ай бұрын
Png files are images, just like Jpg. It's been a long while since I used a Brother and I don't remember exactly how it treated images but I think CV has a trace function? It may depend on if you have the print and cut card, so I suggest you ask on a Scan n Cut group. As long as it has a trace function, they will trace well as the background of Png files can be transparent.

Thank you for this. I have been wanting to do print and cut for many projects, but it is so daunting to even try to figure it out. This technique is still daunting, but at least it is an attempt that seems to work. Why they couldln't sell an add-on camera for the machine and have options in the software, I just don't know. You are the only person who has tackled this, so it is much appreciated.
@createinspain3 ай бұрын
I think the issue stems from the fact that no one at the company thought anyone would be trying to do paper craft on these machines, beyond perhaps, intricate design cuts on plain materials. In reality, it doesn't need a camera, just a laser pointer that is accurate enough - a method of plugging numbers into the software that is remembered. I did try lightburn and could do print and cut from that because it had that facility. (I just can't justify the cost, when I also have a Siser Juliet). I do believe that eventually the software will catch up.
