School is for dummies. If you really want your kids to thrive then teach them about money and how our legal system works. You can home school your children how to read, write and do basic maths by yourself the rest is pointless garbage. Teach them to think for themselves too. Common sense only needs a gentle nudge and we all are born with it.

Low preforming secondary schools may start GCSE at year 9. Early years/KS1 may also have Forest School learning. Sixth form/College, not all offer AS level as not all university's accept AS. Sixth form also offers BTEC/T Level route into University or you can do A'level (2 subjects) alongside a BTEC/T Level. Each university have their entry requirements based on the subject requirement. Not all Universities are the same. You have: Ancient Uni's - foundation date ranges from 1096 to 1582 and are running successfully till now. Russell group (odd Ancient & N8 group also in this group) - group of 24 universities in the UK that hold a reputation of renowned universities and are the most sought after amongst students. They are credited with having world-class research facilities because of which they enjoy a hefty amount of grants from the government. Redbrick - These universities were founded in the 19th university majorly in industrial cities. The reason behind it was the industrial revolution and the growing demand for science and engineering streams. These universities were formally known as civic universities but gradually took the name ‘ Red Brick ’ due to their architecture, also present within the Russell Group and N8 group. Glass Plate - founded between 1963-1992 following the recommendations of Robins Report On Higher Education (1963), a report which was based on education reforms. Progressive in their academic approach, Plate Glass universities experimented with new methods when it came to teaching style, syllabus, examination, administration and so much more. The name of Plate Glass Universities comes from the fact that they have stunning glass buildings and their architectural style is like that, but many of their buildings have had a revamp in design, still inkeeping with the 'Glass' architecture. Also attached to Russell Group or N8 group. Polytechnic and Metropolitan universities were founded between the 1970s and 1980s to make students skilled in areas like Engineering, Science, and Technology. These universities were granted the status in 1992. The main aim of these universities is to make students highly skilled for their professional journey. These have lower entry requirements.

And colleges also offer HND subjects for those that don't want to attend University. Higher education is funded by the government for England & Wales under the umbrella of Student Loans. Course fees are paid to the institution by the UK government. Maintenance loan which is dependent on parental income is paid to the student fir living expenses. Loans are paid back once student is earning in excess of £25000 at an interest rate that is stipulated by the UK Government as it varies year to year.

This video is not fully accurate - children in the UK must be in education until they are 18 years old - not 16 - the system changed several years ago. Education for 16-18 year olds could be in a 6th form school, FE college - vocational now would be T levels, BTECs etc. The AS level qualifications no longer exist as they are no longer funded.

Also, you may want to consider presenting the vocational route in a less discriminatory/stereotypical way. There are wonderful courses in colleges covering subjects such as media production, computing/ITC, etc. And as a lecturer in the UK, I must say that it's a real pleasure to teach students coming through college/BTEC, they are wonderful and very hard working students. So, please stop being so reductionist in your explanations, that only helps to perpetuate class discrimination!
@danielbogos263
@danielbogos263 Жыл бұрын
Ok, seriously now, people nowadays have a problem with this discrimination/racism thing. How on Earth you found this video discriminatory and reductionist? It blows my mind. Sure this video doesn`t cover the vocational route and for good reason. It takes to much times and the purpose of this video is to give a brief look at the educational system. Majority of people will not folow this path simpy because not everyone can be a musician, dancer, etc. You have to excel at these to make a living so maths, english and science are pretty much asked in almost any field. I mean, the video did mention the vocational path, isn`t it?
