Depending on what you what to be using it for for spoons and big plastic lures like nlbn a 9 ft rod and a 4000 to 5000. My rod is breakaway for bass pro shop and if you want to Throw bait I use a 12 ft ugly stick with a 8000 pen

These set up was full of surprise to broken rods and reels but the sent up that I catch the jack was on 12 foot rod and 8000
