I worked with one of the Dancers in this scene, she talked about leaving Philadelphia to embark on a Dancing Career. Her name is Delphine Mantz, she is the big Girl in red and blue Dancers.

I wish there was a full version of this song by the same singer; this is the best version of this song by far but its ruined by being too quick/the happenings of the movie. Which is a great movie.

This scene made me fall in love with jazz and Lindy Hop. I rewatched this scene so many times while I was growing up. I realized how much I loved jazz music and I realized that there was a dance that I could learn that would allow me to express my love and connection to jazz. So glad that Frankie Manning, Norma Miller, and Dawn Hampton were featured as dancers in this scene. Thank you for sharing this!

A truly underrated jewel. This movie is just so good. The scene of Peter dancing alone and trying to not cry and fall apart, really breaks me everytime I see it.😢

I agree. They should have done a sequel to this movie, beginning with Peter's mother receiving the news that Peter was arrested and how the other HJ/ swing kids survived or didn't survive the war. I think that it would have been very interesting. Would Peter's mother have had a change of opinion of the Nazis as the war progressed?

I was purchasing some music (probably cassettes) at Tower Records (NYC) on B’way (1991) and the sales associate ‘blessed’ me by referring Marva Hicks to me. He said “since you buying so many, check this one out”, as he was handing her cassette to me. He said “this is a good one” Sho’ nuff, it was and I have been playing it ever since. ❤️ RIP Marva Hicks -Taha
