My finding is that ham / fairground/ handy talking with hand held. Still works. PS those 25$ Handy's still get them ..the local hospital talks so I'm business

I bought one of these in 2024 and it is a fantastic radio. I use it for civil and mil air which it is great at- it's very sensitive. the scan rate of 25 frequencies is just flat slow by today's standards and it can be increased to 40 I believe by changing a crystal. I have it programmed and use an sdr for fast scanning and finding new freqs. I have 2 books of modifications by Bill Cheeks that I look forward to exploring. still fun in 2024!

I got my RSPDX recently but I flew too close to the sun trying to get it to work with HRD and panadapter. I have it working with Icom 7300 but I want to decode some signals since I have the vhf/uhf discone antenna. Moving towards the Holy Grail of Sat Comms.

PRE 2000 models can easily be converted to 80 channels. I have a 2000 version (stamped inside board) and wonder what the difference is so I can go ahead and cross two solder points to get 80 channels. anyone?

What if all you get is band 1 pri 162.4000MHz

Did you ever convert your 30 channel Uniden to an 80 channel? All you do is bridge two solder pints and it's converted to a BC80XLT 80 channel scanner

Good video. The duel band Yaesu FT-60R communications radio with the RadioShack telescope antenna is a good combination !

I bought one of these on sale at my local Radio Shack in the 80s. I had a CB base station, an old tube-fired National NC-98 shortwave receiver but didn't have the money to get a good scanner so I got the Patrolman 60 so I could tune around on the local VHF/UHF bands. It was really good on batteries and over the years it served through a few power outages and went on a few camping trips.

My Dream Radio when I was in grade school was the Patrolman 9....but ended up with the Juliette MPR 3050 5 Band....that was in the 1970s
