OK losing sound as it adds to the period mood but try to add some music eg: instrumental Jazz or swing

I wish they would provide a proper cycle lane at Liverpool Street, there are really wide pavements there which could easily be adapted to a separate cycling path. I have been very nearly crushed so many times by passing buses there, that I now cycle up on the foothpath. I'd rather be fined than die.

Really enjoyed the video!! How much training were you doing in the 6 month build up? Kindest regards, Jem
@enjoytheviewvideo6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. The short answer is "not enough". Gareth and I were both cycling about 150km a week as part of our regular commutes through London, so that's half the distance to Paris. A couple of months ahead, we started doing laps of Richmond Park together, with five laps totalling 54km. And, as shown in the video, we did the UK leg of the ride twice in the immediate build up, at about 120km a time (that was partly to establish the route, partly as training). I would, however, recommend a more structured training plan, depending on where you're starting from in terms of weekly mileage and how many days you plan to spend cycling to Paris. Good luck!

Both the 2015 and 2018 clips were filmed on a weekday afternoon in February of the respective years, so there shouldn't be too much difference. Although, of course, we would aspire for high-quality cycle infrastructure to take some traffic off our roads.

Great footage. Still plenty of work to be done on making a safer street infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, but this is progress at last - thanks to groups like SKC and activists attending planning meetings. This is a result of their combined efforts. Thanks for posting EnjoyTheView.

The most striking difference is how many more people there are cycling on these roads in 2018 compared to 2015.
@enjoytheviewvideo7 жыл бұрын
Indeed. And I think it's also worth noting that motor traffic has not ground to a halt, as some naysayers claim (both the 2015 and 2018 footage was shot on a weekday afternoon in February of the respective years).

Hi there, we love your video and we're wondering if we could use a short clip of it, with on-screen credit. We are making a series of training videos that hope to make London's streets safer from the increased number of lorries on our roads. No national broadcast I'm afraid but a great feeling that we're making the world a safer place. For sheep and people. You can reach me at [email protected] or right here. Thanks, Adam.

Hi Adam, intriguing topic you've got there! You may indeed use a part of this video if it helps with your street safety project. Please do include a screen credit mentioning either my KZbin channel (kzbin.info) or website (www.enjoytheview.eu) and, if possible, send me a link when you're done (Lorries in London are something I do genuinely worry about). Regards, Paul.

Wow, Paul, thank you so much. And such a swift reply too. We've not yet cut your clip in but when we get to that point I will let you know and we can talk exact wording etc. Do you have a 1920x1080 version, out of interest?

I'm a bit peeved with the design and and amount of funding going into this project that cyclists will not have no legal obligation to use. I can guarantee there will still be cyclists using the road normally and I'd like to hear your opinion on that, i'm all for cyclist segregation from cars and upwards but I think that with the boom in pedal bike popularity we need to start having laws and registration for cyclists to be on the road. One example i'd like to give is the turn on to embankment coming from trafalgar square. there is a separate cycle lane from cars with it's own set of lights designed to stop cyclists getting caught up with vehicles turning left, and numerous times whilst taking that left cyclists have run their red light and come dangerously close on the inside. Another issue I have is on blackfriars underpass, and that's that due to the width of the pavement segregating the superhighway from the normal road large vehicles (HGV/public transport etc) have roughly a foot either side of the road making it dangerous to attempt any filtering on a motorbike and forcing numerous close calls, it also means that motorbikes are neigh impossible to see to these drivers in their mirrors. I don't know I feel we've destroyed one of London's most iconic roads for something I doubt will be used by a portion of cyclists, and feel let down as a motorbike rider that all these years we've never seen precautions and action taken to better the road for us. I've got no issue with cyclists past the ones that run red's and salmon down one way roads, but these are the exact people I see wasting a multi million makeover.
