It just gives you an idea about the nature of the compound. There are other confirmatory tests to identify the compounds. So you can try the confirmatory tests.

If we dip the litmus paper in it does it works? 11:48 why are we exposing it to its vapour?
@sgkmistrylectures3 ай бұрын
Urea solution is not strong enough to show change in colour of litmus paper, until and unless we use a highly concentrated solution. Since here we use a small quantity, this option is ruled out. So we make it to react with sodium hydroxide.. This reaction releases ammonia as one of the products which shows a visible change in colour of the litmus paper.

Mam when i pour that mixture into ice water I got oily ppt instead of crystal ppt.what is the reason behind it ? Please reply
@sgkmistrylectures4 ай бұрын
@@itsme-vv3zb If you have got oily precipitate, that indicates that the reaction is not complete. So u can avoid that by testing if the reaction is complete by adding a drop of reaction mixture to ice and check if precipitate is formed. Only if solid is formed u can pour the entire mixture. If not, continue the reaction for some more time and check..

Excuse me mam ..... Iam darshu from Karnataka.. iam studying 2nd sem of pharmacy , i have one doubt ... Can we use any other liquids at the place of liquid paraffin?
@sgkmistrylectures4 ай бұрын
Liquid paraffin is the best choice since it is easily available in the labs and also has a high boiling point, which does not interfere with our experiment. It is even comparatively safe to use compared to other liquids with high boiling points
