Only 1 negative. They should put: 1.floodlight 2.spotlight 3.combined (floodlight + spotlight). So that when you turn on light you have minimum floodlight first.. 😢.

Great video. What do you think has caused the demise of the cod in the channel? It used to follow a cycle of 4-5 years. Year one being full of tiddlers, the year after great numbers of fish and subsequently less but larger fish. Haven’t fished the Channel for about 7 years but had quite a few reasonable Codling from White Mark and Dunster beach last trip. There were always stories about the Spanish being allowed to fish out the Irish Sea thereby effecting numbers in the channel. Had some good fish from Lilstock nearby.

@@TheConstantAngler I personally feel that it’s a case of over-fishing by the commercials. Our cod move in to the mid-upper channel around the end of September and leave again late spring. When they leave, they are vulnerable to capture by the commercial fleet that operates in the Channel approaches. It’s my belief that they’ve simply been over-fished and that’s why we no longer see the numbers that we once did.

@ such a shame. Love your videos, they bring back fond memories of fishing the channel with my late father. It’s a different world up there compared to balmy Torbay but was always worth the trip.

@VealsMailOrder2898 just a thought jensen.im not seeing the gulls at the stern of the ships feeding on chopped up sprats no more. My personal theory on the lack of cod is that they no longer come up channel due to this lack of food source Great video by the way

Amazing fish of a lifetime-well done! As an exclusive bass fisherman, we release larger fish because they produce millions of eggs compared to smaller ones. It’d be great to see a beauty like this swim another day, but it’s totally your choice . Well done!

Great comment, you’ve made a good point and put it across well. It’s all too easy to point the finger and force an opinion nowadays. We agree that it’s always the choice of the captor and no one else. Thanks for your comment 🙂

I mainly eat Mackeral these days and put breeders of Pollock and Bass back when lure fishing. Only reason I keep now is for a deep hook with Pollock.

Estimated 44 tons of fish will be chewed up each year by the new power station🙄 I wonder how accurate that estimate is? and what impact it will have on the fish species in that area , 🤔will it effect one species more than another? Have they factored in that dead fish attract more fish ? I doubt it 🙄 that estimate could be way off.

It definitely doesn’t look good, does it, there are lots of figures and suggestions flying around at the moment. It’s very sad, but only time will reveal the damage that is being done…

Great video but large cod like that should be returned IMO as they are the breeders of the future stock. The BC is short of decent cod in recent years. Beautiful fish.
