So I have noticed some inconsistencies in the pronunciations of the Chahi language in the wiki and when heard spoken in videos, like in this video. So I am wondering which pronunciations are the correct ones? Or are both the written wiki and spoken video pronunciations used? I will discuss each below. One thing I have noticed is based on the Coyote and Crow wiki written pronunciations the a and i even in the language name when spoken in videos is often pronounced differently than the wiki written pronunciations. Using the IPA symbols in slashes only for the a and i in the word Chahi I'll show the differences. Based on the wiki Chahi should be pronounced Ch /e/ h /ɪ/, but in videos it is pronounced Ch /a:/ h /i:/. The wiki pronunciations for i and ii are listed as, "/ɪ/ i ' as in b'it", and, "/i:/: ii as in peek". But in videos, for example in this one, when he pronounces kag naazhiig, it sounds like he pronounces the ii like /ɪ/ i instead. And in the video it sounds like the i is often being pronounced like the ii, which is the long ee sound. Like in the video where he pronounces kwachyapi, or even the language name Chahi, the ending i is pronounced /i:/ ii or ee, but in the wiki it says i as in bit, so it should be the short i sound. So I am wondering which pronunciations of the Chahi i and ii are right? The wiki pronunciations for a and aa are listed as, "/e/ a as in may", and, "/a:/ aa' as in ‘aaah'‘", but in videos I have heard the a pronounced like in nAH, spA, for example again when he pronounces the language name Chahi in the video. So it sounds to me like the /e/ a is being pronounced like the /a:/ aa instead. So I am wondering how the a in Chahi is really supposed to be pronounced? The wiki pronunciation for oo is listed as, "/u:/ oo' ' as in book". But the IPA /u:/ is pronounced like tOO not bOOk. I think the IPA symbol for the sound like in bOOk is actually ʊ. Also I kind of thought the u in Chahi was pronounced like /u:/ like in tOO based on things I'd heard in videos, like the new setting expansion Ahu Tiiko. So I am not sure which is which now, so which pronunciation for oo is it supposed to be? And what is the pronunciation for u in Chahi? The wiki pronunciation for o is listed as, "/o/ o as in soft". But I have heard the o said as the long o sound like in tOe. For example in the name of the new setting expansion Ahu Tiiko. So I am wondering if it is supposed to be /o/ o or the long o sound?

Ordered. And while waiting came out and discovered all my friends were public allies but private homophobes. So it's sat on my shelf, unopened and unused, because what fun is playing alone? Still glad I supported it financially though.

I backed this game and have played it several times so far - it's great! Such a refreshing change of pace from usual competitive games also. The artwork is gorgeous, the contents are well laid out, and the game packs away with ease. It's quick to learn for new players and has so far been a hit at local game stores.

I received mine by delivery about a week ago. My gaming group played it last weekend. We all enjoyed it; many of us remarked on the different and compelling cooperation philosophy. How generosity was important to win, but more important was careful stewardship of our resources and giving each other advice about it, too. As it turned out, we all died in the last round. One of us totally busted (overreached), and two of us had only 1 or 2 of critical resources because our bad luck kept drawing that particular resource with the "take away" cards. In that final round, mathematically, there was just not enough resources left in 2 categories to satisfy everyone, since the overreached player made it worse. It was fun, and the group says they will want to play it again. :)

One of the things that interests me the most about this game is Chahi! I'm a linguist, so I get super in to conlangs, especially given how many cool features the native languages of North America have! I've been a bit confused about the vowel system though, and this video clarified it for me. I think there may be an error on the wiki! It says the short vowel represented orthographically by [a] should be the vowel /e/, and the wiki clearly says it should be pronounced like english "ay" in may, but your pronunciation in this video indicates that the distinction between [a] and [aa] is one solely of vowel length, /a/ vs. /a:/, or I suppose [a] could be the schwa. Hence the word "Chahi" being pronounced like you say it. However, now that I'm thinking about it, isn't the last vowel incorrect too? If it's supposed to be /i:/, shouldn't it be two i's? If it's only [i], the wiki indicates that should be pronounced like the i in bit. I really don't mean to nitpick, but I'd hate for well-intentioned people to be thrown off by the wiki.
