Thats why I dont like Davos. He was an atheist. Whatever god commands is the right thing to do. Only god knows what is the best for us.

I don't think he was an atheist. He just didn't like the Lord of Light, or Melisandre really.

Shireen also learned the onion to read and write, teach him history etc. She was his mentor as much as he was hers. The emotion in this scene gave me tears and sore throat. What a master actor!

Melisandre said she still has a purpose then she made absolutely no impact in the plot later. She came to light a few swords and a trench on fire, which made no difference then went out to the field and promptly died.

A big part of the unfinished/rushed aspect of the show to me is we really get no answers to why the gods or lord of light works the way he does. I get wanting to leave that a mystery, as a reflection of how people feel about God or the idea of him in our life. But it always felt like that's what the show was heading towards, a sort of reveal as to something about the Gods, especially as magic and monsters became more prevalent.

"The only way for what? They all died anyway." Just... fuck man. I felt his pain when he said that. So much of the ASOIAF universe can be boiled down to some version of that sentence. The atrocities committed in the name of gods, in the name of the realm, in the name of family, duty, and honor. So much of it comes to nothing, and there's no happy ending.

I like this scene. Just shows even though she brought John Snow back alive, it this shows how loyal Snow is to Davos. Since Davos was the person behind the ideal to bring back Snow alive. As Davos is to Snow.

No one talks about how Davos just follows Jon's lead. He clearly wants her dead, but Jon gives her a chance to leave, and Davos doesn't protest but instead follows up on Jon's threat that if she returns, not only she will be executed, he will execute her himself.

He's a great character, and great actor. But in this scene, we are one sided morally against Mellisandre where I see her as acting to push things "forwards" in a more "by any means necessary" sort of way. In a sense, she didn't specifically need Shireen, but rather royal blood and Shireen was the only one shy of Stannis himself*. Stannis and his wife both served Shireen up so it was far more morally their failings than Mellisandre's and Mellisandre would have accepted using anyone -- Renly or another of Robert's bastards. Also, in the same vein that she willingly used Shireen, she also voluntarily saved Jon Snow. * Serious fantasy plot hole: if Stannis' daugher was royal blood, then it's because of Stannis himself. The show clearly established with Renly that they don't need to kill the royal person for the effect to take hold. In fact, it seems pretty dumb to kill such a person at all if they could just have an endless supply of it from a living person who produces royal blood. The only "rule" that would make sense to kill is if the bigger the ask, the more blood is needed at the same time, essentially requiring death if it's too much blood. But 3 tiny leeches killing (fate twisting) three potential kings in war was huge. Surely they didn't need Shireen to die just to melt some damn snow to have a chance at a battle with Roose Bolton?

This is the speech needed to give to so many religious leaders. If your Lord tells you to hurt innocent people (like killing children) then your lord is Evil, end of discussion.

I think it goes further than religion. There's a quote that those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities. Any absurdity, whether by a religious leader, politician, even your friends.
