Funnel is part of introduction which highlights the core meaning/essence of the topic & transition para sets the context of Essay to transition between intro and body.

@@amritasya_putra for philosophical topics, funnel is needed to highlight the core meaning of the topic. In transition para, you set the context of key words that defining. In technical topics, funnel can be skipped. Where you give the definition - either your own or any established definition. Hope this helps.

Meguthi jain temple ( Pattadakallu) + kannauj + udayana + shashanka = Harshavardhan defeat shashanka and took over Kannauj . The possession of Kannauj meant high status, authority, and control over the central Gangetic Valley. King udayana is a hero in harshavardhana's Sanakrit play "Ratnavali” . Then harshavardhana marched towards south india whre he is defeated by chalukyan king Pulakeshin 2 near the shore of narmada river . This victory is mentioned in aihole inscription by jain poet Ravikeerthi at meguthi jain temple .

It is Meguti Jain Temple situated on the Aihole hilltop. Built by Ravikirti under Pulakeshi 2 , who defeated Harsha

Super Answer = Buddhism. Mahabodhi temple is in Bodhgaya were Buddha got his enlightenment, Udayana was a follower of Buddhism, Kannauj assembly on Buddhism and Shashanka wanted to destroy Buddhism.
