I remember watching these when I was a boy, before “Last of the Summer Wine” came on PBS. Being a literal child, I took all this rather seriously! It was only later I realized this was actually a parody of cooking shows, and have come to appreciate the subtler humor.

If you're referring to the theme song, that recording is probably your age or older. It's by Alfred Deller, released in 1956. Countertenors (not castrati) have been a thing for several hundred years, and were an important part of English music back in the Tudor period.

This whole Posh Nosh thing is so hilarious for me, as it reminds me of a pretentious couple my parents knew in the late 70's, who gave extravagant dinner parties to show off. It was an era of fondue, cheese and wine parties, and formal barbecues on the patio.
