As someone who is a manager at Papa John's - I would not take advice from this guy. You need to go work at a pizza franchise - see if it's right for you - and figure out how to win in that franchise system as an owner. Figure out how much you need to do in sales at your location and what kind of locations do the best (and why). Low volume stores are different than middle volume and they are different than high volume. I have worked at 8-10 papa john's franchises and I have a feel for what locations would possibly be good, and which locations would fail.

So I'm a franchisee I have one question who gave the franchisor to put all the things they want in disclosure form? And franchisee don't have any right you sign or you don't.
@Vettedbiz3 күн бұрын
Thanks for your comment! You’re right-the FDD heavily favors franchisors because they draft it. That’s why it’s crucial for franchisees to have a franchise attorney review the document and negotiate terms if possible. Advocacy and stronger regulations are key to balancing the scales.

As a previouis Franchisee, I can tell you that Exponential misleads franchisees with half-truths, and mis-information. They ONLY care about making as much money from the franchisee as possible. This IS NOT a company you want to do business with. They have multiple lawsuits against them from both shareholds and franchisees. STAY AWAY.

im getting the picture from watching your videos that the return on initial investment occurs after 4-6 years on average for a food franchise. that seems to be quite extreme. each case is different, but assuming you create a profitable original restaurant business, the payback period is likely far less than 4 years, perhaps closer to 2 years, so i have read. of course the failure rate of a non-franchise food business is much higher. so this is the tradeoff. after learning so much about franchise businesses, would you invest in starting one or would you take the knowledge you have attained and start a new business concept? and if you are willing to divulge, what type of food would you sell? ... also, i read that a study produced these statistics: restaurants have a failure rate of 33% fail in the first year and 33% fail in the second year. of the restaurants that survive to the end of the 3rd year, 85% go on to survive 10 years or more. what are you thoughts on these statistics and what do they tell you about the restaurant business?

ME has such a bad reputation for low wages and overworking the serve providers that on job sites they won’t even list the business name. They’ll list as Confidential. When I applied unknowingly the recruiter asked if I had a problem working with ME. The best way to get a good practitioner is to find an independent therapist.

The reason massage therapist don’t want to work for ME is because they pay low wages for literal back breaking work with no breaks between massages. Therapist greet clients, clients disrobe and we do 50 minute sessions then client get dressed and we’ve got to clean the rooms then greet the next client without being able to hydrate, use the bathroom and stretch. Therapist are also responsible for doing the laundry.

The irony of a franchisee that sells predatory memberships that are damn near impossible to cancel saying they’ve already paid vendors and won’t pay anymore. Also the service providers are so grossly underpaid it’s unethical.

According to Dickies business model, corporate does not help franchisees make money, they take their money. When a corporation needs money, redesigning a menu board, selling a new computer program, and new equipment all unnecessary and it all goes through corporate channels. All of this is very expensive and much more than street value. They bleed the franchisees and seem to have no concern whether the franchisee makes money. A normal consultant helps streamline the business, helps stop the bleeding, helps increase sales, and searches for other catering income but not Dickies, their consultants are expected to be collectors. This is my opinion of what I saw when visiting a Dickies while corporate reps were there. Sad really, you can lose all your money in just months without support.

This is really good insight Jack. I can tell you're a former Franchise owner. As a 3x owner myself snd failing the first time out at age 20, i appreciate your wisdom here. Franchising is the best way for anyone to get into business, but expect your results to be in correlation to your effort. Expect to put in half days (12 hours) minimum in your first year as an owner-operator to get the franchise profitable.
