What pigment did you use to get the whitish streaks? What’s the main color used?

I always add at least 2 different, contrasting pigments to build depth and movement. In this piece, I used something like Zen Garden from Eye Candy Pigments in combination with a couple shades of blue.

Uh huh... your blacks didn't match up when you did your patches. Same thing happened to me on the piece I'm currently working on. Black dye, 5 drops per gallon; I counted them out for later. What do you do when you're not mixing a gallon though? What about when you're only mixing 2 ounces? Yup... people think black is easier but there's nothing easy about it. Black is UNFORGIVING. Looks great though. You did a very good job and it's an impressive table. I'm sure the client will be pleased.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not sure what patches you refer too? Everything on this table came out as expected. I intentionally do a layered effect, but there is no mismatched colors. I have 8-10 other black tables in my video list. Check them out.

That's good. It looked like there were some black spots that were a different shade under the clear. Maybe I'm just manifesting in your video what I'm dealing with in real time. It's a beautiful piece you've made.

Hi I'm doing a somewhat similar project. I saw in one of your very first videos you also burned the slabs before pouring the epoxy, did that seem to help with sealing the wood at all?
@naturesedgewoodwork
@naturesedgewoodwork 5 жыл бұрын
That is just the natural edge that has darkened over time. I do make Charred pieces and find that burning actually makes the surface more porous and generates even more bubbles. Personally, I dont preseal....if you have good, dry wood, properly sanded bubbles are minimal.

How did you create the lines/jagged look inside the epoxy?

Wrinkles and pinholes. Make a mold instead of plastic for the bottom and pre seal the wood before your pour.
