I’m also feeding my Doberman with raw food, but isn’t it better to crack the eggs you fed your dog open? I just feed my dog chicken feet and ground beef. He loves chicken breast too as well.

I know that this video was about your disillusionment with positive reinforcement training only, but I was thoroughly impressed to see the level of obedience displayed by your dobe. Years ago I watched a training video from Leerburg demonstrating achievement of similar results using the idea of Duration, Distance and Distraction, with a no-nonsense foundation of praise and correction, using a prong collar primarily. I've applied that and achieved a great level of obedience and a well-adjusted and happy dog, but not off lease--most certainly my short-coming. I have a new dobe pup on the way and am determined to achieve that level of training with this dog, really for the betterment of the dog. I know you live in Canada. As I live in south-west US, do you have any recommendations for trainers in this area of country who can help me improve my training techniques/strategies/methods?

Hi!! Sorry for my delayed response, didn't see your message earlier. There are some excellent online courses you can follow to achieve off leash reliability. Check out Shield K9, SolidK9Training or American Standard K9. All balanced youtube trainers which great online courses :)

NEVER GET A DOBERMAN FOR YOUR FIRST DOG. IF you are determined to make a Doberman your first, be willing to pay for a professional trainer for a year and beyond. These dogs are smarter than most, very head strong and extremely athletic. I'm on my 7th. ❤

The point is your dog gets his needs met. People use zapping to control unhappy dogs. Like you proved, you shouldn't need it anymore. I trust my dog more than human insurance.

@worldofdifferencek9636 Жыл бұрын
@@Rhiaanon When it comes to recall, you can never let the dog get away with being successful at ignoring you. Go through proper e-collar conditioning and make sure you don't stay on low levels forever, once the dog fully understands recall and what the ecollar mean, make sure ignoring your recall command comes with a big consequence, it's life or death!

@MiloMeru Жыл бұрын
Recall is one of the first things a dog needs to do, if you have a large working protection breed and it doesn’t listen to you first time every time, that shits a liability. The dogs happy.

@danpb9865 Жыл бұрын
@@shadowkokufu9178 people who haven’t owned big working defense breeds are usually against e-collars cause they believe positive training is all there is… which can be very dangerous with this type of dog… but you need this backup. Big dogs need to be heavily trained. You can’t make mistakes with big breeds designed to protect, that one mistake can take you to court or end up heavily injured.
@worldofdifferencek9636 Жыл бұрын
@@danpb9865 100% well said! Owning a dog means being responsible and especially with a power breed the liability is even higher. E-collar training means I can trust my dog and keep her safe, she will never make a mistake which could end her life!
