Feeding pigeons is very cheap,what makes it expensive is keeping to many, this applies to all livestock. Highest protein being beans or maples. If you need for some reason to keep dozens of hungry pigeons feeding on such rubbish you have no stock sense whatsoever.

Frill backs, fantail, and other fancy feather pigeons are great, BUT you need to keep them so clean, and their feathers get messed up. If you can take great care of them, fine, but they take more work

of course if you are in a different region you may need to substitute, but its helpful to know where to start, thanks! i feed my racing pigeons a mix of "pre mix" (because i cant buy the ingredients cheaply) , corn, barley, chicken laying feed, and alfalfa...
