Way too much oil used to season the pot. The oil should be almost invisible to properly bake into the cast iron. You needed to buff it completely out. And you took the coating off all the brass pieces that prevents you from having to constantly polish it. It’s supposed to look dull. Vintage pieces are meant to look vintage.

Love the video and nice work, shame the owner wanted it finished the way they did. Covering that 115 year old hickory stock with spay paint instead of linseed oil and not bluing the metal was a mistake IMO, the model 65 little krag is a scarce youth rifle and to find one so complete is rare, fortunately it could be returned to its factory finish relatively easily.

If you use a shorter bolt to hold the work in the drill press it won't shake about so much.

file got corrupted, I used solder to attach it and duck tape to keep it flat then taped around it and painted it again to help hide the holes. forgot to hit record painting it again.
