Can you buy these? I’m searching for a good plant hair dye, I have fibro and my hair was all falling out so I had to stop using chemical dyes. It turned blonde, white and grey when it grew out. I’d like to tone it to a grey or ash blonde but I’m worried about… it falling out again. I’ve used conditioner color depositors and it looks ok. Just washes out so quickly
@herbalhairstylistАй бұрын
Hi! Sorry to hear about your experience with this. Plants dyes would be a great option to address some of your concerns, primarily hair loss. These blonde shades are my own recipes that I use on my clients. There are some blonde dyes available online but I don’t know shade they’ll provide. To achieve an ash color, you’ll want to use something with Amla, Cassia, and Indigo. Achieving an ash tone can be challenging though, being that Indigo can end up a green-ish color. I'd have to see your hair and create a custom recipe. A strand test would always be recommended to make sure it’ll turn out a color you like. You can start with a basic blonde recipe: 1 part Cassia, 1 part Amla, 1 part Shikakai, mix it 8-12 hours prior to applying, and leave it on for 3-4 hours. This won't be an ash tone, but will tint grey/white hair a blonde shade. Where are you located? I am in the Austin, TX area if you’d like an appointment. I also offer paid virtual appointments to help you with custom recipes and guide you through the coloring process if you’re comfortable with mixing and applying your own treatment. Email me at [email protected]! Best, Ednita

@herbalhairstylist2 ай бұрын
I'd say the color is pretty darn close. ❤Some clients do really have this hair color though. You can't deny how cool it is that a plant can produce this shade of red. I have black hair and use it to dye my greys, they turn out like red highlights on my dark black hair, without changing the rest of my natural color.

Omg. It looks SO damaged and swollen after
@herbalhairstylist5 ай бұрын
Yes, that's how bleach works. It opens up the hair cuticle by swelling up for the lightening properties to diffuse pigment within the strand. Henna, however, bonds to keratin, making it much more difficult to remove from hair with bleach. Under no circumstance do I recommend bleaching hair because of how damaging it is. This video is meant to dispel the myth that using herbal dyes before or after bleach or peroxide-based dyes would melt hair, which is not true. 🌱💚
@qwabXD5 ай бұрын
If the henna contains metallic salts it WILL melt. I've seen videos of hair smoking and slaughing off when bleach & metallic salts are mixed. Indian companies can be very misleading in their labelling of their henna, so it's not always easy for consumers to make informed decisions about it. You didn't prove that henna + bleach doesn't = hair melting. You've demonstrated that the specific henna you used + bleach doesn't.

I have a different hair tone on my ends from last year when I used indigo and henna. I’m trying to do highlights but I’m concerned that half of my hair will turn green. Is there any advice on how to professionally cancel the green out of my highlights?
@herbalhairstylist5 ай бұрын
Hi @fioreli4, great question! I'm wondering if you've already strand tested a section? Depending on how long ago the henna/indigo application was, it might have faded enough to not bleach into a greenish tone. Prior to doing any bleach or chemical dyes, I would first use a clarifying treatment to remove any mineral build-up from your hair, sometimes minerals create green tones, it's not always indigo. If you strand test, and the color has a green hue, I would suggest to use a pinkish/reddish toner to cancel out the green tone. :)

Great video! to avoid doing henna first and indigo second, can I mix both (i.e.: 80% indigo and 20% henna) and apply that mixture just once?
@herbalhairstylist10 ай бұрын
Yes, you can do the 80/20 ratio and leave it in your hair for at least 3 hours to achieve a deep brunette. It all depends on your existing hair color and what result you want. This mannequin had white hair before the henna and the end result was a deep brown, not quite black.💚🌿

@@herbalhairstylist thank you so much for your reply! I have ash, medium blonde hair (natural, non-dyed). Do you think I can achieve a deep brunette?
@herbalhairstylist9 ай бұрын
@@soothingrainydays Hi! Sorry for the delay in response, yes, you can definitely achieve a deep brunette on blonde and lighter hair. The lighter the hair color, the lighter the results, so you might still have to try a 2-step process but I would recommend: 70% Indigo, 20% Henna and 10% Amla (which tones down the warmth a bit). With herbs it sometimes takes a few different mixes to get the ideal color. 🌿🤗 Let me know how that works.

I agree with Lady below - henna cannot lighten hair this is natural, herbal hair dye without any chemical additions. I usually dye my hair orange with chemical hair dyes but in February I decided to dye them with henna and the result was so : my lenghts were bright orange but roots were only a bit warmer but they were still in natural shade - ash, slavic Brown.

How to lighten the henna for red colour?
@herbalhairstylist2 жыл бұрын
Hello! To reduce the red of henna you can add cassia and/or Amla. Cassia will give you copper tones and Amla cools down the red a bit. If you mean lightening hair after you've applied henna, you'll need to use bleach or let it fade. 🙂💚🌱

Diana, yes you can! Red henna on dark brown hair might not create a noticeable color change if your hair is quite dark but it will add a nice red glow in the sun. It will also strengthen the root and strands!
