Are you suggesting to select the wedge at the level of gingival floor or slightly above/ below the level also doc what do you suggest when placing the wedge before or after placing the ring is there any difference ? Thanks for amazing video
@GarrisonDentalАй бұрын
You want the wedge to be as close to the gingival floor of the box as possible. Too short and you can get an overhang. Too tall and it can dimple in the band. It should always go in this order - band - wedge - ring. If you try to place the wedge after the ring, the tip pf the wedge sometimes won't go through the interproximal space correctly.

Here at Garrison we like to follow standard practice to maintain hygiene and simulate real-life conditions in a clinical setting. It helps ensure that the same precautions are followed during training as in actual patient care :)

The large space between prepped tooth and adjacent on the typodont is what you usually don’t have in the real life. And that’s what makes it difficult to place the Garrison matrixes there.

What to do if it slips off tooth aftr placement?
@GarrisonDental8 ай бұрын
If you've placed it as far gingivally as possible, the ring shouldn't slip off the tooth. It has retention extensions on the bottom that grip below the infrabulge of the tooth and it's difficult to get them to pop off without removing them with the forcep, as long as it's placed correctly. If it does pop off the tooth, place the ring again, making sure it's seated as far gingivally as possible, then once placed, wiggle the back of the ring loop to make sure it's secure.

dr. Good afternoon. I saw a video of yours on KZbin about margin elevation at Garrison. The resin you recommend is Clearfil Apx from Kuraray? You mentioned that you use it preheated. My question is, at what temperature do you usually use it for margin elevation and if you heat the entire syringe or if you use compules? Thank you

Great presentation! Thank for sharing. Is the Reel Matrix tensioning instrument easy to tight and untight the reel matrix? It looks bulky to be used to tight the reel matrix in areas of Upper first or second molars? Thanks
@GarrisonDental9 ай бұрын
It is fairly simple to tighten the bands down and not too difficult to loosen it. Normally you would loosen it up enough after restoring until you can get leverage to pull the band off the tooth, so you aren't tightening and loosening the band repeatedly. As far as being bulky, once the band is placed, you no longer have the tensioning instrument in your way, unlike a tofflemire retainer. The "neck" of the instrument is long enough to reach in areas that may be difficult otherwise.

what kind of tweezer are you using to hold the bands? im struggling to grip with standard tweezers
@GarrisonDental9 ай бұрын
There are 2 different matrix band placement instruments shown here. NiTin Garrison Band Forceps (NTG-DF6-8) which are more of a standard tweezer placement tool. Also, the Composi-Tight Matrix Forceps (BFA-1) which has a dedicated video on our channel. I recommend checking it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5O6pauwl9KLqLM. Both are Garrison products and can be found at garrisondental.com.

One problem we can we is that once we put the ring we get gap on martix but i have to say i am using paldont sectional ring is that could be the reasons TIA
@GarrisonDental10 ай бұрын
Palodent rings do not do much to adapt the bands to the tooth. Use some Teflon tape to help close those gaps or you can try our soft-face silicone tipped Garrison rings.

Could you specify more, then, about the issue? Where is the space happening? Is it happening at the margin, happening in the bottom of the box? Is the matrix band moving out of place after the ring is placed or is it's shape changing once the ring is placed, causing the contact point against the adjacent tooth to be the gap?
