Hi, thank you for posting, there’s very little post op rehab resurfacing videos like this, loads of THR vids but hardly any resurfacing. I’m 53, previously a very active competitive cyclist who has basically blew out my joints with racing. I’ve recently had ceramic resurfacing on the right hip with the view to get back to the hard training I’m used to. Currently at wk9, and I’m really struggling with any twist motion which causes pain in the actual joint and close surrounding tissue areas. It’s hard to pin point if it’s tissue pain or the actual joint itself. I notice this mostly at night whilst trying to sleep and get comfortable. Getting in and out of bed which requires some level of twisting causes a lot of pain. Straight on flexing is about the same as the chap in your video and pretty much painless but pretty stiff. I’m really getting concerned I might have damaged something, I did try to push things at around wk6 with some easy cycling which did involve some moderate loading. I’m undecided if the pain I’m experiencing started at that point or if it’s because that was the first time I’d worked the join so was feeling what was already there. Watching the end of your video with the chap sideways jumping on to one leg has me wincing, I just can’t imagine I’ll ever be able to do that at wk15. Any advice appreciated.

I had my right hip resurfaced 3 years ago by Prof Meek (Glasgow) on the NHS. I am still running long distance at the age 66. I returned to slow running after 6 weeks!

Resurfacing is the only way pro athletes have returned to pro sports
