Years ago my Sunday School teacher told me some of the ugly stupid things people said to her at her high school son's funeral 8+ yrs earlier. The worst was a woman, "You'll be divorced in a year." While truthful she remembers the cruelty of it. She married the love of her life later and was an amazing teacher. The urge is say something may be more about your feelings vs actually showing your love to the grieving. Just give a hug, some food or acts of service and keep your mouth shut.
