And when if the room gets loud with the bose you still have to have a monitor, jus like everything else , they be monitor outs on them tone match bose mixer for that reason . Hold your mouth right..

Have to use xr18 to make it sound great , but then you got over 3,000 in one speaker . But you have to have 2 bumping 6 grand , also Bose is great in a listening room But it ain't gonna cut it in a parking lot full of happy people,. Two qsck8.2 and a 500.00 mixer sound great and smoke the bose . Iv had both , . Sold tha bose got Qsc and a sound craft mixer. I will say this , I played a gig in a listening room with two of the newest versions of the bose , the venue used an xr18 as the mixer just me on guitar and vox and a pedal steel player , the steel player did not go into the pa used a fender twin . The sound was fantastic. Did not need monitors . But it was a small 50 seat room and with polite people . And it was a medium volume. Iv got a lot of stuff , it's got to the point I just take a Roland ( not boss) cube street headphones out into a k8.2 for solo and duet gigs , and always get asked back , makes me want to kick myself for wasting all that time and money .. Good luck ..

You can hook up any mixer to the Bose, I would never do a gig without knowing what sound I was gonna have. You should have found out what system they wanted or had and you could have hooked a mixer up to it and had the sound you always have.

Yes, that are exactly my thought. Bose seems to be only good for instrument and pure tv speaker, as for singing… QSC and Mackie seem to do better job. 👍

Thank you. Just affirmed what I was thinking. I am leaning towards getting the Pro 32 but I'm going to bite the bullet for the T4S too. But hey, my wife and have been using the QSC SRM's with RFC subs and a mixer. That shit is getting old to lug around at 61 years old.

I'm 66 , put your ears on the k8.2s it's scary what great sound comes out of them , and the the red light never comes on they get loud , and if u bring a rock band , maybe just one sub .

Cant believe i am just finding this now, 3 years later. When it comes to speaker reviews on the internet, it is always from DJ's, but a singers requirement is totally different,... i was considering getting a Bose , but as you say, we singers are plonked in awkward places and we want the sound slightly infront of us, so the 180 degree coverage actually causes more issues. I also like the fact that you pointed out that as singers we have to put our vocals on top of the music if using backing tracks and also on top of the noise floor generated by the crowd, which is a whole other headache that DJ's dont have to deal with . I persoanlly prefer EV' speakers for the warm sound but they dont have great vocal throw,.. i now use the new RCF 945's,.. great throw, but i have to EQ to try and tame doen the harshness. Anyway, great review,.. and reefreshing to hear a fellow singers persepctive on speakers.

Had a similar experience with a house Bose. The next time I performed there, I brought my Yamaha DXR10mkii and an EAE Stompmix 4. Two pieces to set up and was way happier with the sound control/options. The Stompmix pedals are really good.

Not every venue has the limited options regarding speaker placement. Any powered speaker sounds much better going through a mixer first. Between the pre amp and added eg etc results are much better. Plus with a mixer you have the option of running an in ear system. We’ve gotten lazy when it comes to setting up gear. I mean really how much more time and effort does it take to set up a small mixer like a Mackie vlz4, put it on a small stand, plug in your guitar and vocal and a music player run an output line to the Bose? What 5 minutes tops. If you’ve got a 3 or 4 hour gig isn’t the extra time worth it? You don’t even need a separate in ear pack. You can run a line out of the headphone straight to your in ear head phones, which protects your ears from proximity to the Bose and you can hear everything in stereo. QSC is cool too. I have both. The room dictates what system I bring. Bottom line is I’m not gonna suffer through a gig just to save 5 or 10 minutes of “extra” time to set up and break down.

Hey mate, great video. New to buying my own music equipment and doing a ton of research to the point of nausiam now 😅. As a singer wanting to buy one of these PA Array line speakers to play House / Dance from and sing using a wirless beta58a mic, would you have any recommendations at all?. P.s I dont play instruments.

I use LR Baggs Anthem pick ups in all my guitars…it’s the only way to get an accurate representation of the true character and tone playing live. I turn up the volume up on the pickup until it just starts to register and then set the gain on the PA or house sound…this avoids all the pickup catching strap noises etc. LR Baggs Anthem allows you to blend between the mic and piezo too…which is awesome.

Sir, thank you for making me get back to my 80s! I wound up selling my BCB-6 with pedals in 1988, for an "up to date" ME-1 I think kkkk... Now at 51, I bought them all again, happy and regretting that youngst choice! My set is (left to right) Power Supply Master Switch - Compressor Sustainer - Heavy Metal - Chorus - Equalizer - Digital Delay. I plan to remove de PSM and include an Over Drive before de HM. Didin't know about the ASA/PSA point you commented, I will look for a specialist to do so. Thank you so, so much! And Happy New Year from your friend from Brazil :. !

Yep, I have a Lyric in a Martin CEO5. It sounds great BUT, as you indicated...it doesn't work well on stage because it will feedback quite easily if the PA Amp is set other than rather low. It works OK at, say a coffee-shop gig but it's really not usable for "louder" gigs, even as a solo performer.

Hi Gary, brilliant video. How do you go about utilising the boost with looper on the Venue DI? My understanding is if you record a loop and want to solo over it with a boosted signal, the Venue will basically boost everything going through the effects loop... just trying to work out the best way to have a boost over the loop

As a retired, burned-out, has- been hillbilly lawyer from Norman, Okla living in Spring, Texas who lost everything and everyone, including my mind, I didn't have anything to lose from watching this video. quote from Meris pedal designer: The klon sounds great. But, the charge pump used in it (and it's clones) is noisy. It has a switching frequency which is way too close to the audio band for comfort. The pedal's output looks ugly on a scope. And this noise, which is injected straight into your signal path, can cause audible problems with DSP based pedals further along in your chain. -terry

Bruce, Thanks so much for chiming in here. I really appreciate the information you have shared. It's interesting that the Archer made the noise but the Tumnus didn't not.
