If my memory is good, at the end there is also another idea. The main caracter tells to people who memorize books that the most important is not to memorize each Word but the most important thing is to understand (and discuss the content of the book)

Dickens hurriedly secularized and sensationalized their spiritualist redemption story into a "Ghost Story of Christmas," then claimed sole authorship all his life.
