This is so incredibly helpful. I'm really glad I stumbled upon this! Hi & thanks from Macau, China! I'm still struggling with having my fingers not touch the other string during some of the double stops, but -- this gives me something to work on!

Excellent - I've been playing this slow section when busking , just discovered today while playing with a backing track how quietly you can play it and it still sounds good

@@roysonne I may have landed on this 'piano' rendition ( could have just observed the markings :-) ) because I was listening carefully to the accompaniment . . Do you start in third position ? , that is , the first note is E , then the chromatically up to G - I have been starting on the open E and shifting to third position
@roysonne6 ай бұрын
@@dougnickerson I definitely start in third position with my loveliest vibrato.

Why do most people play the note first and then vibrato a second or two later?
@roysonne8 ай бұрын
Most teachers (but not me) will say you're supposed to start the vibrato right at the beginning of the note. But it gives some added security of both hands if you can establish the tone and the finger placement first without vibrato.
@linda__45878 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for answering that for me.
