I've queries on eventlisteners. when we create the listeners, as part of that one deployment & service will create but the thing is here how could it knows which port would it take like in your case taking port number as 8080, why can't it take any other port number.. Not sure what's the purpose. Jenkins is an orchestration engine that has workflow described via groovy. There's no such thing as actions that "should not run in Jenkins". If you can run it in a CLI, you can run it as a task in your jenkinsfile. Why would i make something more complex ?

I was expecting more info about Jenkins in this video.

While I'm probably going to stick with Jenkins Shared Library because of inertia, Jenkins Template Engine is nevertheless a cool option. I believe with the right amount of Groovy magics, both Shared Library and JTE would look almost the same (i.e., similar levels of abstraction). Steve's just/justfile is actually impressive. Pretty neat for local Jenkins testing/demo.

What I need (or want to provide): 1. Self serve Kubernetes, (extending OCI/Docker) on my local machine that integrates all the way through CI/CD without tooling changes. That is a problem, even if they are under the blankets. See Docker vs Rancher, K3s vs K8s. 2. To support that, the ability to grab "data source" container images from local repos that already contain, or better, automatically pull, up to date canonical data snapshots. The data should be under version control for reproducibility.

Very good introduction. I have a question: My application has multiple components that are loosely coupled through Kafka. The message gets created in the first module and sends it to a topic. Multiple modules consume the message. Some modules will create new messages to other topics. The question is, can Kafka instrumented to support OpenTelemetry? Thanks.
