I'm just gonna say it. Despite Al's solo band being the weaker one, Matt Jardine has always been the better falsetto vocalist imo. Brian E.'s voice just comes across as whiny and oh my god why is his voice so loud in the mix, its drowning out everyone else's voice and it sticks out like a sore thumb. I know a lot of people like Brian E. but personally, I just don't think his falsetto voice is that good.

Totally agree. I was there for the Mike Love leads - fun in the sun, cars, surfing, having already seen Brian multiple times back in the day. I was mostly checked out for the rest of the setlist. I did think he handled The Warmth of the Sun pretty well, though. The overall mix was terrible, and extremely loud. So many complaints on the way out of the concert, peoples ears ringing. I think he must get what he pays for in terms of a sound engineer. I was not expecting AC/DC volume at The Beach Boys. We bought ear plugs during the intermission and the 2nd half was much more tolerable with them in.

I’d be worried about the crowd. Acting frozen and lifeless and unenthused. The musicians did their job but the somewhat bland crowd was odd. They were still and lifeless and not reacting to decent play. This is a Mike Love and John Stamos and Bruce Johnston present the music of The Beach Boys show. I saw Al Jardine and his son Matt and Wendy and Carnie Wilson’s show and they were better and the crowd more into it. This crowd was flat.

Mike and Bruce, enough is enough. This is NOT the Beach Boys. It's one original member, Mike Love, who is truly the least significant, least talented one. This is a cover band, and a crappy one at that.
@mike982
@mike982 11 ай бұрын
Interesting take. The lead singer, with co writing credits on the majority of the hits, is the least significant member of the band? Respectfully disagree with that. The band is endorsed by Brian Wilson and the estate of Carl. He is keeping the music alive and has their blessing. He also pays them 17.5% off the top for the license. I guess you think the world will be better off with no Beach Boys at all. I for one am glad my favorite group still has something to offer. The young people at the show were truly the most excited.

@@mike982 he pays because it was court order. The whole world knows Brian wrote that music and carl sang some of the greatest songs. The natural harmony of the brother's was unique. Look it up. Them, the Cowsills certain famkly groups. Everly brother's. Bruce, and Mike were involved with a talented team of brother's who composed and sang some of American musics greatest songs. Mike gets too much credit. He doesn't own writing credit for over a hundred songs. Check the court records on line. He's branddd himself an ass. But thanks to the wilsons and Al. Hes rich and Famous. 👎🤪

For all the Mike haters, I saw Brian last year when he opened for Chicago. He went into a trance after singing half the words of California Girls. He did even sing again until God Only Knows, which was 40 minutes later. Even then we only got one verse.. It was like watching Weekend at Bernie's . Mikes show still has energy and keeps the music alive. So have a heart!

Brian was an excellent show about 10-12 years ago. Nothing against him touring until any age, if people want a chance to see their hero on stage. I just wanted to keep my last memories of him full of life, excitedly singing my favorite songs as only he could do it. Mike Love is the only one who can sing my other favorite songs, so that's the best we can get.

Instead of The Beach Boys, it should be billed as The John Stamos Tribute. The Beach Boys music is beyond legendary, but why are they so obsessed with John Stamos? He is not at the show, but his picture is all over the screen constantly and Mike can't help but name drop him as much as possible. This is really weird.

@@mike982 Don’t worry, the “beach boys keyboard warriors” always come to the comments of every video like this one and say “This isn’t The Beach Boys!!1! 🤓” To give you a proper explanation, this iteration of the band features Mike Love, original/founding member, lead singer, and songwriter. This band also features longtime member Bruce Johnston who joined The Beach Boys in 1965. They tour with a talented back-up band, legally using the name “The Beach Boys”. Sure, not quite the original line up that you’d see 30-60 years ago, but they provide the music and they do it right. This is currently the closest presentation to the actual Beach Boys that you can see live in concert. I personally like to call it a “legacy band”. Far more then a tribute, but a bit less then the original.

@@mikeglossip7598 I know that regardless of how logically I respond, we’re not going to come to a civil agreement. So I’ll just say I don’t care! 🙂 It’s a silly thing to be so bothered by. The Beach Boys made some sweet tunes, and Mike/Bruce are simply continuing to share it with the world and many generations of fans, young and old. Be thankful that we have any original members still preforming 62 years after the bands inception.

J-15 definitely sounds more bassy and rounder. I think when recording and performing, it will take up a lot of space. The J35 just sits perfectly, very well balanced and leaves lots of room for vocals or other instruments to shine, while still having great presence and note seperation.

Comparing these two guitars is like comparing apples and oranges in the first place, but since I am actually in the market for either or both of these guitars I was looking forward to hearing your side-by-side comparison. Your playing is nice! Problem is that a true comparison cannot be discerned on your video due to the poor quality miking and room acoustics. As a result the guitars sound very much alike, i.e. thin, bottomless, without midrange or bass and without dynamic differentiation. Since I am a tone freak, I was disappointed with what I thought was going to be a great head-to-head comparison. BTW I listened to the video using high quality headphones. I have watched every You Tube video of the CEO-7 I could find, and because of great miking those videos gave a very true idea of that guitar's timbre and balance. It is a great little box that I am looking forward to playing. There are only a couple of videos of the OM-28 VTS (non-Authentic model), but the ones I watched revealed a warm-low end/sparkling and clear top end and much more bass response than the CEO-7. And of course it would, considering the big differences between the bodies and designs of the two guitars. I hope you can record a re-do using a great mic in a not-so-lively room, and while you're at it add some dynamics to your playing. I can't wait to hear it again!

They are both great guitars and yes quite different sounding live. After much research the CEO-7 won the day every time. I've had it for about two and a half years and the tone has just been getting better and better. Amazing bottom end and volume for the size. Wonderful warm tone when fingerpicking (the mahogany V neck and set up makes this a fine fingerpicking machine). It is also surprisingly light. It's not a cheap guitar but if you're thinking of getting that special lifetime instrument the CEO is excellent value in the Martin range and sounds and plays better than many of the pricier Martins (imho). Only gripe was the slight lack of finish on a couple of the fret edges (easily resolved but shouldn't have had to) and the beautiful Autumn burst gloss finish is a real fingerprint magnet (but worth the cleaning effort).
