Around 1967, I saw Paul in Kansas City at a Billy Graham crusade. He cheerfully asked all the men on the dais if they would mind sitting on a table, and he would lift it. There were about 8 men, he back lifted it and then spoke a bit about his trust in Christ. I was a young boy at the time but it impacted me. It was a wonderful experience.

He is not so bulid to deadlift, short arms and short femurs
It amazes me how little quad development Ed had given his incredible squat. His technique seems to have completely bypassed his quads and put all of the load on the hamstrings and glutes.

I met Paul Anderson around 1973 when I was 18 years old at a youth for Christ event. He was a great man. I saw him put a hankerchief over his hand and pound it all the way into a board with one whack. Amazing. A God fearing good man.

Supposedly he did 1000lbs with metal hooks around his wrist, which are like deadlift straps in today’s standards.

Made them look easy.. only his grip let him down on the last one. Would of done it easy with some wrist straps 💪🏻

Anderson, in his book, said that he used a double overhand hook grip for all of his pulling movements. The hook grip is becoming more common among deadlifters these days. Cailer Woolam for example.

Paul is the only human in history having lifted 6270 lbs on his back it's just inconceivable that a human actually lifted over 2.5 tons of weight without any assistance

Wow he made it looked like 100 lbs. And he walked it back from a squat stand just like the old days, now that is one of the strongest I have seen

Paul was such a humble and kind person, you would not believe that he was the strongest man on the planet, who pounds size #20 nails through 2x4s with his fist.

This is a powerlifting technic and a stupid one at that! It's used to reduce the range of motion. Love to see him doing it without the arch!

Double overhand, no straps, with a stiff a$$ bar. Doing that with a bar that has no give is insane. Same with Gerrit Bandenhorst pulling 410 kg back in the day at WSM. The bar they used had no give either, and Gerrit made it look easy. It was a strongman world record for almost 20 years.

More impressive is, he wasn't mechanically built for this lift as the bar went so high and yet he did it like lifting a 5kg dumbbell.
